When did he retire? I started noticing what I was watching around the time Alan Hunte and George Mann were playing for Saints. Was he still around then?
Based on the players I actually remember watching it would Long, Sculthorpe, Cunningham, Martyn and probably Offiah or Robinson. |

Hanley - simply the best British player I have seen.
Offiah - the last player we've had over here who scared you whenever he touched the ball.
Cunningham - 16 years of first grade rugby of a consistently higher quality than anyone else I can remember
Ward - the best prop I have ever seen and it's a shame we lost him when he did.
Too many others to consider for fifth really e.g. Schofield. Those four stand head and shoulders above the rest to me.
