| Well I enjoyed it anyway. Loved how it was pretty much a rugby league event dressed up as a dual-code one as well (for a change!).
Wouldn't mind seeing a Masters Rugby sort of thing in the same way they have in football like this. It'd make the off-season seem shorter anyway!

| This could be a great winter event for the RL Benevelent Fund???
Lancashire Masters;
Wigan, St Helens, Warrington, Widnes, Salford, Leigh
Pennine Masters;
Huddersfield, Oldham, Rochdale, Halifax, Bradford, Sheffield
Yorkshire Masters;
Castleford, Wakefield, Leeds, Hull, Hull KR, Featherstone
Cumbrian Masters;
Whitehaven, Workington, Barrow, BARLA Select Vets, Gateshead, Carlisle?
Top two winners to go to a big event at the MEN for instance?????
Sky to cover it.
Great way of raising money and getting a chance to cheer on some old favourites.
I think its a great idea and something our code lacks. RU has lots of vets events and some really high profile ones like the Bermuda Classic. Would love to see it happen

| They need to alter the rules, the play the ball was just way too quick to make it meaningful. Maybe drop to knees after tagging, or even use some tag tape things to make it obvious people had actually been tagged.

It's touch rugby, not tag. They were using the proper touch rugby rules.

| I think we should definitely attempt more events like this but agree that some of the rules should be changed whether they are official rules or not.
It was too hard to score and there seemed to be quite a lot of confusion. Tries were scored off quick play the balls often rather than skill. They should have made it 5 a side and maybe introduced those things that you have in Oztag where you rip it off a belt.
I thought the standard was shocking seeing as though some of them are still professionals. It was certainly an argument for old-timers being more skilful with the hands than nowadays! I think it would take a couple of events of getting used to and we would see a more exciting version of the game.

That's what I was getting at. Only has to be 2-3 weeks long, just to shorten the off-season a bit!
Although I'd go with some different groups as you've missed out a few teams there. Maybe...
Western Masters: St Helens, Warrington, Widnes, Barrow, Whitehaven, Workington
Manchester Masters: Wigan, Leigh, Salford, Swinton, Rochdale, Oldham
Eastern Masters: Hull FC, Hull KR, Sheffield, Doncaster, Gateshead, London
West Yorkshire Masters: Leeds, Hunslet, Featherstone, Wakefield, Castleford, York
Pennine Masters: Huddersfield, Batley, Dewsbury, Halifax, Bradford, Keighley
European Masters: Wales, Ireland, Scotland, France
All split into two groups of three like in Masters Football (apart from Euro group). Winners of each group play each other to be the winners of that competition. Winners of each competition go to national final, split into two groups of three again with a grand final.

| Only problem with your idea Wells is that Western Masters would walk it quite easily.
Widnes and Saints legends with the ugliness of Wire players to put others off? Unbeatable.

Nah, I reckon they'd bottle it and the Barrow legends would go through personally!

Then they need tighten the rules up and say that when you are touched by a defender not like what was happening last night with the attacker touching the defender.

You're allowed to do that in touch rugby. It's part of the game and has been for years. I think they call it a dump play. They do it to basically force the defenders to move back and force a quick PTB.
If you took another player out, (like people are suggesting) I don't see how this would make it less a running game? If the ball is in the middle, and you're going right, it can only go to two players so it's just as easy to mark.
I totally disagree with the point anyway that it's too hard to score. How long are these games?! And how many tries were scored in that time period?!
