I think 7 commentators is a bit of overkill!

Dick and Dom at each end of the pitch are pointless in my view. Then you they crowbar the two studio pundits in as "guest summarisers" as well.

So come half time we've already heard their opinion rather than getting a different opinion.

Eddie, Stevo and Clarkey and thats enough for me.

Espeicially considering 4 of them aren't 'English'

Having Barry Mc on the pitch after each try is rather annoying, pointless and embarrasing!!

It was the same for the Grand Final.

They really need to seperate the commentary team from the studio. I know Sky have always done it that way but they only used to have Eddie & Stevo. Now they've so many pundits it's not necessary.

I don't see why they insist on using the chuckle brothers as 'expert' commentators. Neither of them know anything about the game from a technical aspect. Some of Barry Mc's pieces were absolutely embarassing.

Phil Clarke as ever chirped up with some stupid phrases, such as his statement that whoever passes the ball the most accurately will win the tournament. Bizarre.

and the one about . "the winners will have world class wingers", if they arent world class they sholdnt be on the field on winning or losing team

For me the whole presentation just feels like some Southern executive at Sky taking the pi $$ out of the grubby Northerns by throwing as many cliched accents at us.

They should have a professional lead man when the show comes on who deals with the pre game. Then like the football they should have a proper commentator and a knowledgeable second man who chimes in with pieces about what has happened and why etc. If they need an on field commentator it should be the guy who does it at the moment, but only from the side of the field with no shots of him.

Turry O'Connor was the second one. All the needed was a whippet on a lead and a vista of rundown terraced houses and it would be complete.

You've got eddie stevo and clarke commentating........but then we go to the half time comments and stevo and clarke have ed off, in come carney and mcrae to join hemmings.

Then you have this god awful cringe worthy idea of going to barry and terry pitchside for meaningless comments and actually havign to watch their ugly mugs.

They're laughing at us, they're taking the p*ss.

That welsh fella they had presenting for the world cup last year did a decent job. Their is only Rugby League that presents itself this way. Rugby Union have a seperate studio from the commentary box and we should to.

Two commentators in the box and a presenter with two pundits in the studio. That's how it should be.

what was pre- match presentation like? i only woke up to see the game from the 30 minute mark. they need the presentation big style

Wheras opening a major international tournament in Doncaster doesn't give that impression?

Yeah, in our case the stereotype is legitimate, but they didn't need to amplify it to the degree they did. They could have a host who can talk properly in a nice accent to distract the casual viewer from the Northernness of it all.

Snob. What's wrong with "northerness", anyway? The fact some sports coverage may depict southern accents does not necessarily make it overbearingly southern, or indeed better than coverage which depict northern accents.

Why be ashamed of the "nothernness"?

Carney is excellent his knowledge and comments are on another planet compared to the rest of them.

McRae is a client of Howes as is Kear as is Cullen - Howes is very chummy with Hemmings and we will no doubt see either Kear or Cullen tonight. McRae hasn't coached to any standard since 1996 and but his inclusion shows it is not what you know but who you know.

Eddie and Stevo need replacing - you can anticipate what they are going to say before they say it - time for some new blood - one person who really comes across well as a summeriser is Iestyn

Clarke - too biaised had his day time for a change

O'Connor and McDermott - embarrassing why are they there?

Bill on the sideline - again is this really necessary?

I didn't mind it....I can only imagine how bad it will be next Saturday afternoon.

Frankly I couldn't see anything wrong with the coverage, the inclusion of Brian Carney was an excellent idea, and Phil Clarke actually makes some sense when he isn't bagging Leeds.

The Terry and Barry thing is similar to Tony Siragusa who stands at the end zone and provides analysis for one of the NFL games on Fox every weekend.
