Quote ="SaleSlim"We were way too slow out of the blocks last night and Catalans massive pack dominated us for 40 minutes. Some poor tries conceded again and at 18-0 at HT it looked like we might ship 40-50. TBF to our lads they came out all guns blazing 2nd half and started smashing holes in the Catalan defence at will. When we got it back to 18-14 they looked out on their feet but a certain ex-Wigan player decided he'd con Kendall into a couple of cheap penalties which killed all our momentum and 2 tries in the last 5 minutes made the final scoreline look far more comfortable than it actually was. Losing Sarginson pre-match was another huge blow as he's been excellent so far this season.
Seeing as Watson is having to undertake his annual rebuild job it'll take time for us to gel. Heartbreaking as a Salford fan to see a GF team broken up and cherry picked by the "big boys" as I think we'd have consolidated on last season's achievements had the likes of Hastings, Jones, Bibby & Griffin still been at the club.
Still, it's what we're used to at Salford so we'll just roll our sleeves up and get on with it while the "knowledgeable" RL community mock our crowds etc.
PS. No sign of Jean at the game in case anyone wondered.

Bad form mentioning that "A certain ex Wigan player conned the ref"
Certain players from most teams always try to leave their arm in at the tackle in the hope that it looks accidental when the attacking player loses the ball and the ref calls, loose carry, knock on.
James Roby, as good as he is, is a past master at this particular tactic. Salford at the moment and I say this with all respect, haven't a single player as smart as Roby and certainly not smart enough to get away with it. Watson should really being saying to his team, don't even think about it.
The certain ex Wigan player has intelligently, changed the dynamic and as Luke Robinson pointed out, turned the onus back onto the perpetrators by legally holding the defenders arm if it's some where it shouldn't really be.
