Its been bugging me for a while! Its annoying just like diving in football. I find that in the nrl the rucks are cleaner and there aint has much messing about. We need to have two refs
And I think at TV games if a player says the ball was stolen why carnet the ref ask the VR ref to have a look it would only take a few seconds and it might help to stop it
I kind of agree, there is so much going on now around the tackle/play the ball that one official cant spot everything.
this knock on/ball ripped thing is really starting to annoy me now.
yes, the ball carrier should take some responsibility to keep hold of the ball, but when there is 2/3 men with hands all trying to pull it loose them more often than not the ball carrier cant keep hold, in that situation then it should be a penalty for a ball steal unless the ref is 100% certain he lost it on his own accord.
Quote="OzWelsh"Get 3 young refs over from Oz. Promote 2 from the Championship. Simple.'"
The salary of a referee isnt going to be anywhere near enough to tempt any young ref in Aus to fly across the world is it? I only hope you were trolling
It could be used on a few things, That been one. If there was already a stoppage in the game, Which a scrum could be. The Captain could use a "Challenge" - As in Tennis, You Challenge wrong, You lose it. Obviously would only be on live games, But as said. It would help cut out the cheating.
Wire used the ball steal by the third man in the tackle.
Don't know why the refs miss it all all.
Tony Smith introduced it at Leeds around 6 years or so ago and it worked wonders for them, getting a knock on when it should have been a penalty against.
The refs caught up with them about two seasons ago.
Smith has now taken the tactic to Wire and it worked brilliantly and completely fooled Bentham v Huddersfield.
Noticed in last night's game Thaler was on the look out for the offence and caught both Wigan and Widnes at it.
We just need the refs to know the tricks of the trade coaches use and be waiting for them.
