| now that rangi chase has been figured out by most opposition defences and teams now weigh him up and know how to handle him it just seems to me that they have no back up plan to get them out of trouble. having watched the game last nite against the giants they had no threat from anywhere else on the pitch, mcgoldrick must be rubbing his hands cos hes pinching money off cas no threat whatsoever, dixon and younguest are championship players at best, the young lads coming through are good but have no confidence and the cas forwards most of them championship level at best.
its gonna be a long hard season for cas they were absolute dire last nite!!1

| Chase tried his damnedest against the Giants, but no player can magic something when he gets not a shred of help from his team mates.
no runners, no support and no enthusiasm

We sold Westerman for more. HTH.
Therefore, I'd suggest that given the quality that Chase offers, I'd say that a fair assumption is that he's worth significantly more than JW. Ergo, £500k minimum is not unreasonable.

| It's fairly obvious to most that the long contract for Chase wasn't necessarily to tie him to Cas for the next few years - rather, it was to increase his price when the big clubs come knocking.
All this talk of value and worth is rather subjective though - his value will be exactly what the highest bidder is prepared to pay and not a penny more; the pertinent question will be what Cas are prepared to accept to buy out his contract.

| The problem Cas have is if your not able to spend to the full cap, and you have a significant sum tied up in one or two players, it naturally means you are going to have to make sacrifices in quality elsewhere and/or rely on some of your younger players to step up. Undoubtedly, on his day Chase is a very good player, but he can't do it all on his own (even though he quite often tries), whilst if rumours are to be believed McGoldrick is also on a pretty sum.
Last season the young players such as Arundel, Milner and Clark were very good, but even as talented as they are, it can be a big ask if the senior players in the team are not performing, which appears to be the case so far this season.
Wakey have probably spent a similar amount on wages as Cas this season, but the money would appear to be more evenly spread around the squad, thus in my opinion giving it a better balance (the obvious lack of a decent goal kicker apart!) and making us less reliant on one stellar player. Yes, both teams have only one win so far, but after a promising start, Cas seem to be fading badly, whereas so far with us, its a case of what might have been.
