| Did Mikey Wood & James Davies actually play? They weren't named in the lineup on the club's social media accounts. And if they did, they didn't replace anyone else? If they did, when you take into account Bulls having 7 more interchanges than Sheffield, that maybe explains how the Bulls nicked it at the end.

Yeah they did. And not really. I mean our defence was pretty solid throughout and literally the only reason we nicked it was because of a little stupidity from the Sheffield player. However I do accept that Sheffield were lower on numbers than ourselves but the result didn't matter today for us it was about giving game time to everyone.
Pretty pleased with our defensive efforts overall. A good game to get under the belt. Hopefully Dewsbury will see the return of Keyes and hopefully adding a little more structure in attack.

| Decent performance. We showed we can defend since Sheffield were restricted to one interception try. In attack we'll be better for the return of Keyes and Chisholm as our last tackle options were a bit rushed and didn't amount to much in the first half. Standouts for me were Crossley and Butterworth. I also thought Davies and Hodgson ran very strongly off the bench. Milnes looked decent again, in fact I thought we looked better once Smith had gone off. I understand he was concussed.
I'm sure I remember Kear saying more of the U19s would get a shot at Dewsbury.

| Thought the defence was outstanding again, though the number of silly penalties, mostly for 'hands in', that we gave away is something to be addressed.
On attack, we ran well with the big men to the fore, but otherwise we looked decidedly blunt, though with makeshift halves, I'm far from despondent about that. We shouldn't forget that Sheffield are a division above us and, despite their low number of subs, seemed have a pretty strong side out. I'm happy with progress.

So do what I do when I want a couple of pints on matchday. Have em in the Top House before the game instead and roll into the ground at around 2:55pm.
If they're going to rip you off, the only way you can protest it is by not paying it. If people continue to pay it, they'll keep overcharging and making money off you.
I know we all like a pint during the game, but it's accepting the issue.
Same with the overpriced and poor quality food. Have yourself a fish butty from the chip shop on Odsal Top or pop to the new KFC before entering the ground instead. While people continue to pay £4 for a cold and chewy burger, they'll keep charging it.

| I agree that ripping fans off by blatant overcharging is not good. But please use sensible arguments. Comparing the price of Carling with ASDA supermarket prices is frankly silly. It is in any case usually no cheaper than 60p for 440ml which is 0.774 of a pint so that is nearer 75p a pint anyway. But the argument is bogus, because in a pub club or other bar you are paying for the facility. The premises, heating, lighting, equipment, furniture and staff do not come free and you're paying your share for the use of.
If you want to complain about high prices for poor drinks at sports events then that would be pretty much most places, major finals is where I recall being ripped off more than anywhere else - Wembley, OT, etc) - but it works because there are lengthy queues at every sales point and people don't ultimately care, they can't drink enough of it for some reason.
I agree each venue needs to work out what makes a profit for them without alienating too many fans. that's the issue. But comparing supermarket prices for canned pis.s is not.

| On Boxing Day it was 3.50 for a can of Carling. At the time I thought it was expensive but when I started thinking about it, it made some sense from the club's perspective. First, the mark up on a can is surely more than a pint which means mlre money for the club. If you turn up to every home game and buy a can of beer at 3.50, over the season you'd fork out only abput ten quid more than if it was 3.00, which is a price I reckon people might not complain at since they know they're in a sports areba. Also it takes much less effort to serve cans than it does pints - no need to clean lines, buy gas, change kegs, etc all of which make arena beer terrible cos they can't possibly manage the bars well when they're only serving beer once every fornight on average. Cans can at least guarantee beer quality whereas pints are often garbage for these reasons. Also it deals with the thorny issue of lengthy queues. Less staff can rattle through more thirsty fans if they don't get bottlenecked by serving pints from the fonts that take forever. This was made worse with Green's double pint pot initiative. Serving twice as much beer half as fast was a bad idea for me. Also it cuts down on plastic pint pots if people drink from the can so less waste and hopefully more recycling of cans.
Obviously I'd rather pay less, but I'm not offended by the price since I'd rather the club price the beer in a sustainable way that allows them to cut down bar staff, improve the beer quality, serve people faster, cost less, and make more money for the club.

To be fair when I went to the bar I was expecting to get a pint of pi$$ (Carlsberg) for £3.50. When I found that a can of Carling was the same price I went for it. Better quality as you say. But if I am being honest. They could save money on everything as you say and make a profit at £3 a can. Purely for the fact that more people will probably have an extra one because it's "only £3" if that makes sense. I have a couple before the game in a bar and I take a tenner in with me for beer (as I have a couple after with my Grandad too) so for me I'd have 3 at £3 but 2 at £3.50. Sounds pedantic I know like.
But I do agree with everything you say about reducing costs of bar staff and increasing beer quality. Plus at £3 a can more people are likely to buy that (better quality) than £3.50 a pint of pi$$. So saving money again on kegs etc.

What has the price of a pint got to do with anything?
I was comparing the price of a can bought in asda to a can bought at odsal. 50p for 440 ml in asda compared
To £3.50 for 440 ml at odsal.
A can bought from an outside kiosk so need for heating, lighting, funature or what ever rubbish you were going on about.
Id say my comparison is more than fair.
Like i said ive no problem with the club making a profit but come on lets be realistic.

Compared to Carlsberg it is. Sooner have something else mind but if it's a choice between the two then Carling is much better.

We all had a good laugh at that! Was expecting a scrum after the fullback knocked on. When Macani did that I couldn't believe it Then I remembered it was Macani and anything can happen when he's on the pitch. On another note I didn't really notice Magrin much during the game. Didn't seem to make much of an impact.

First, and I know you are exaggerating to try to make your point seem better, but for instance at this precise moment, Carling at ASDA is 70p a can, and that's if you buy 20. So you are FORTY PERCENT out.
[ They have just put on a special offer whereby if you buy 3 packs of 12 i.e. 36 cans, you pay £21 but that's still over 58p a can. And everyone understands discount for bulk, but I bet you've never ordered "36 cans, please" at the Odsal bars.

You're right. On reflection, I now understand that if nobody visits the bars, the expenses of running the club on matchday disappear, as if by magic.

No exageration of any figures im afraid, they are simply based on the deal i got over Christmas. 3 crates of 12 for £18 pounds. Im sure even you can work out thats 50p a can. As you so rightly say. Its cheaper to buy in bulk which im sure is what any business would do? Do you think the bulls go in and by 20 cans at a time and pay 70p a can or buy in bulk at 50p or 58p if thats what it is now.
Humour me for a second. 30 cans of coke for £10 in asda at the min. 30p a can. If they used the same mark up as on the lager that would mean sellng Coke for £2.10 a can.
I think every would say thats a rip off.
Or based on your arguement you would deem that acceptable?
