There is a story breaking that none of the staff or players, not even Rohan Smith has been paid today. Mr Green is out of the country again and as fans of this club do we not deserve to k know what is exactly going on.
People deserve to be paid as in the t&c's of their contracts. Maybe the players know that if they win the plate game on Sunday they might just get paid. Or what if they decide to not bother. Some one needs to speak up from the club

A few normally get paid on a Friday though. Maybe even more when that Friday is the last day of the month.

No, they don't. That's just where you're totally wrong. The STAFF deserve to be paid assuming they are doing their job. The players are legally entitled to be paid, but whether they "deserve" to draw their sizeable wedge over what will be a bleak winter for the club is a completely different question. The blunt answer is : I'd suggest that the players do NOT "deserve" to be paid, because they are the reason that we are in the financial mire. They haven't kept their side of the bargain. They failed miserably in the league, they failed miserably in the Cup, they had a great chance to salvage a little bit from their abortion of a season at Featherstone, where their wages and indeed the club I support were all on the line, and they got nilled. They got thrashed by part timers. They got out-enthused. That is the worst part.


If that is true then great. I'll be there but it's an embarrassment that we are in that toilet of a game, and it's even worse that despite an 80-nil win recently, there is no feeling of certainty on this forum that this lot will definitely beat even the part-time basket-case that is Sheffield. That's where we're at. The team that is in that situation is however down to get the same pay, week in week out, as if they had won the playoffs and got promoted. It might make the point that they had not got at Fev kickoff-time. If that is the situation they are in, then it is a situation of their own making. The only ones I have sympathy for are the new signings.


Then it'll be pretty much the same as the Fev game. And several others.

Sorry to be rather blunt. My perspective is that while I keep going and keep supporting, I have had this sense that the club is hanging by a thread as a result of the players' failings, and if the worst came to the worst, and the whole thing folded, the players would have only themselves to blame.

Confirmed in today's T & A that the players were not paid on Friday.

Ah I missed that. Given it's the 3rd month as reported, you'd think Ross would make a bigger issue of it. But I suppose paid late is not the same as not paid.

Given that it was a throwaway line in a story about beating your lot who are in worse state than we are and I was looking for an actual story on the matter, it's not surprising I missed it, is it

Only being paid 1 working day late is actually an improvement. We're heading in the right direction, obviously.

Not really news any more, it's become the norm.

Besides, it might be classed as negative. Which would immediately bring about the usual idiots shouting him down for reporting those negative facts.

I'm sure Mick doesn't believe it himself, he's just passing on the info. In fact, I'd be amazed if anyone believed that with it being the third month on the trot they haven't been paid.

For what? We all KNOW the club is in dire financial straits (winding up petitions, unpaid wages, failure to qualify for playoffs etc) - the bigger surprise to me would always be if we DID have enough to pay everything on time, given the depths to which we've sunk. I keep saying similar ... but I genuinely believe some people think that if nothing bad has happened for a couple of weeks, then we must've solved all our problems and everything must be hunky dory. It's not.

And as I also keep saying, the immediate lack of cash is directly the players' responsibility anyway - for example, a 10K-15K home crowd against the Rhinos would have got everybody paid. To say nothing of the shortfall in next year's funding that losing to Featherstone has disastrously caused.

By my reckoning (and I've been fearing the worst as you all know since the Fev debacle) Green is working minor miracles to keep the wheels on the bus. Not that he gets much credit for it.

People can go on and on whingeing about late payments etc. but none of them suggest WHERE TF we are supposed to get the cash to pay them.

When will everyone's contract end who isn't staying at the club and going to other teams, that will surely cut our wage bill.
