So rather than have one generic 2017 squad thread I thought we’d have some separate ones to discuss the whys and wherefores of each potential rumoured signing.

So Mitch Achuch. Are we in the running to sign him? He was reputedly on a big salary at Leeds but I’m sure he wouldn’t be at Bradford. What do we reckon? Big lad, got some pace. Seemed to go AWOL when things got tough at Leeds or was that down to a disagreement with McDermott? Would he thrive at a lower level? Or would he struggle in the physical sort of rugby you get in the championship?

Every time I see him play for Leeds, I totally forget he's playing. Unless he was coming cheap, which I can't imagine he would be, I just don't see the point.

Well he certainly has some size. We've needed that for a while now. Think we would be be better at second row rather than a prop. Get him running out wide against the smaller men. Used the right way, he will be a good signing. We've made some good signings for the last 2 years and our use of them has been shameful.

Impossible to say tbh, but my guess is that if Rohan has spoken to him [and I'm sure he will have if this rumour has any substance then[i:2etvldr8 I'm sure he's convinced the coach[/i and on the notion of Rohan wanting him here, despite my reservations, I'll go along with it.

Well I remember Penrith fans not being too happy he was being allowed to leave. But Leeds fans havent been overly nice about him. Whenever ive seen him admittedly on TV hes looked ok and not used correctly think he would be dangerous in this league

Superstar or not, he'd potentially be a big selling point for season tickets. How many other Championship clubs have a Treble winner who was a first team regular at the time?

(IIRC if Leon does come as well not only will we have two, but we'll have the only player to have done it twice?)

I believe Jamie Peacock also achieved that feat (winning treble twice)

He is garbage, you do not want him. You need players with grit and talent to help you get back to where you should be and certainly not jokers like him.

Two weeks ago everyone went well for Fev against us.

Except Achurch. Who didn't play. So the Fev comments are largely irrelevant with regards to Mitch.

He will easily get low end SL club so not sure why he would drop down a league for less money.

I did hear a whisper that he's a flat capper next year. Part time suits him, as he now runs a successful gym business.

I think he will be returning home to Australia after this season. His missus has already gone back home.

He's also completely missing the point that someone at an SL club may well get a lower end squad number and possibly, depending on injuries, finish up being loaned out. Whilst coming to a club at our level is much more likely to be a more valued member of the squad and get more action.

I'd be tempted to buy a load myself on the back of that signing. No, really.

The point I was trying to make was the second half of my post, treble winner and whatnot. Let's face it, it's not like we have much else to shout about at the moment. Quite frankly I'll take whatever good PR point we can spin right now.
