| I've just seen my email saying we've signed him until 2017.
Quote BULLS SECURE NRL TALENT
BRADFORD Bulls are thrilled to announce the capture of Parramatta Eels fullback Kieren Moss.
The 22-year-old speedster has signed a deal until the end of 2017 and joins up with his former coach Rohan Smith.
Smith coached Moss during his time at fellow NRL side Penrith Panthers, as the youngster moved up the ranks.
Moss, who will arrive for Sunday’s Kingstone Press Championship Round 16 match against Dewsbury Rams, played for Penrith and was part of their premiership winning NSW Cup team in 2014, before joining Parramatta in August 2015.
“It’s very exciting to start a new chapter of my career at Bradford,” said Moss.
“It is going to be a big change for myself moving away from Australia and home, but I think it is for the best. I’m very happy to be a part of Bradford Bulls and hopefully I’ll be able to do some good things with the lads.
“I knew Rohan when I had him as an Assistant Coach when I was coming through the system at Penrith Panthers.
“I’ve always admired what Rohan has done and I think he is a really, really smart coach and I just love what he does.
“Bradford is such a notable club with its history plus having Rohan as the coach; they sealed the deal for me.
“I think my biggest asset is my speed. That has got me where I am at the moment, plus my support play as well. I try to be wherever the ball is around the ruck and always try to put myself in the right place at the right time.
“Kieren is a really good young man and has a lot of ability,” said Head Coach Smith, sponsored In Memory of Joyce Dobby.
“He performed strongly over several seasons in the Under 20s competition in Australia with Penrith and then moved into the NSW Cup team with them as well.
“I feel the English game will suit him and allow him to take his game to another level.
“He is an excellent support player. He is very good defensively and catches a lot of kicks on the full. Where the ball is, is where he likes to be – he’s that style of player.”
Moss, who is available to sponsor, will be interviewed in hospitality in the CTF Legends Suite before kick-off at Sunday’s game with Dewsbury Rams, places are still available.'"

| I find it ironic that it has taken so long for someone to be brought in he is called Moss.

| Young, quick, good support player, very good defensively. Sounds promising!
I think the most important thing here is that Rohan is already doing exactly what I hoped he would - using his knowledge of the NRL (and its reserve grade) to bring in those players who might not be household names, but players that he has worked with in the past and knows what they will add to our squad. This isn't him taking a punt, as some of our previous signings quite often felt like.
You could argue that fullback is not a position we need to strengthen over others right now, but personally I don't think Blythe or Purtell bring enough of a strike threat to our backline, so if this means Clare plays at centre with Welham from now on I'll be chuffed to bits.

| Sounds good. A young player with lots of potential. And lots of speed it would appear.
I'm still concerned about our recruitment policy though.
Is full back the new second row?

| Welcome Kieren. Sounds like he's a speedster. Looked one of the best support players I've seen since McGuire on the highlights which we've been crying out for.
Reckon Moss at FB and Clare to wing or centre to sort out problems out wide.

Spot on. The fact Rohans signed him gives me confidence. When we signed players throughout the season before, there was no real plan behind it. Ferres signed him and Lowes decided early on if he liked the played or not and he would become undroppable or we'd never see him play again.
Smith will have a plan of how he will fit in, whether sticking him out wide, giving him the 1 shirt and moving Clare out wide, or maybe putting in him the halves. Smith isn't a coach to sign a player and see where he can fit him in. He will know exactly how he will use Moss already.

| Clare into the centres not only gives a genuine threat and pace, but also this lad sounds as if he will finish off a bundle of Gaskell / O'brien / Clare / Addy breaks.
Just shows what you can do if you hire a guy with deep Aussie knowledge and connections. Also kudos to Green & Co for funding it.

| The way that Rohan is talking about how he catches kicks on the full and is a great support player, follows the ball etc, makes me think he is earmarked as an attacking full back.
I don't think the 'can also play in the halves' is going to be Rohan's strategy going forward. He seems smart enough to know the difference between a fill-in and a genuine scrum half, which makes a pleasant change, I must say.
It looks like Moss to full back and Clare back to centre (in place of Blythe/Purtell) or wing (in place of Caro)

The NRL subreddit are pretty keen on him too, at least they were about nine months ago when he signed for Parra. The Penrith lot seemed gutted to lose him.

| Mullaney has been the biggest loss from 2015 IMO and this guy seems to be the most direct replacement of him in terms of skill and speed. Looks to be a good addition and like others hope he spends minimal time in the halves if we can help it.

| Sounds like we've finally replaced Jake Mullaney.
So going by that press release, he'll be in the side on Sunday then?
Be interesting to see how he goes

No, he'll be at the game but not playing.
Being interviewed in the Coral Stand before the match apparently.

| Looks to me that Rohan is looking to build for next year and do the best they can this year. We don't need a fullback so it's obviously a signing that he thinks will benefit the club going forward. I'm now resigned to us not making a scrum half signing of any distinction in time for the 8's, maybe a youngster on loan perhaps? It appears that they won't be rushed into a signing for the sake of it. If Rohan is here to build his own squad then I can live with what we already have this year as long as they have their sights on potential targets when more funds are available at the end of the year. It certainly doesn't excuse the signing farce that has been evident over the past couple of years though.

| I get the feeling Rohan would prefer to go up this year and I get good vibes that he comes across as a forward thinking Coach who has that ability to make silk purses out of sows ears. But he should be told it's not in the Bulls psyche to have a Plan B, is he strong enough to break the Odsal curse?

| The time to have signed a 7 was 2 years ago or ever since. From what I have seen, it seems Rohan thinks young Oscar has potential at scrum half and I have seen nothing to contradict that. Would be great if he grew into that role, esp. seeing as I agree this signing pretty much puts the kybosh on buying in a ready-made 7, for this year anyway.
With Gaskell and Thomas at 6 and 7 we may have a decent combination, and with Addy at loose, Clare in centres and Moss at FB, we suddenly are in danger of having several people playing in position. Interesting times.

Agree - think the lack of an out and out 7 has been highlighted by other players out of position and weaker links in the team

| Are we certain that Clare is definitely staying now we have signed a full back.
I want to see Clare go out wide and we all of a sudden have a very good back line.
The number 7 is now leaving me wondering whether Smith wants to see how good Thomas is before he commits this year. I suspect Smith is talking about promotion this year but inside knows that next year is the real start for him. This may mean he sticks with what we have at halves - unless someone is available that he just can't resist. That would be a bonus. I can't believe he doesn't know of a similar type of young half back who could come and do a good job. The problem is the visa rules for an Ausie who hasn't had much game time. Doesn't this new lad have a British passport which made it easy.
I would rather Smith waits till he gets exactly who he wants rather than an average player just to stop us going on about no half back.

I'm definitely feeling optimistic. Though I confess it's more for next season.
