I agree it is mystifying. You would have thought, wouldn't you, that the world's most avant garde young graphic designers would have been literally fighting amongst themselves as soon as the word got out. I don't understand it either.

Maybe the immense global acclaim and social cachet of producing the winning postage stamp masterpiece, including the required text, for an obscure sub-forum, for nothing, has started to lose its lustre?

Oh I dunno - there are people who bang on about how much they can put on the point of a pin, so a couple of hundred pixels might be a bit over facing for some...

Then again, take twitter - I think it's basically for people who who haven't the ability, or command of language, to string a half decent sentence together, but then others say it teaches posters to be succinct and to avoid verbosity. On that basis that 200 [or whatever pixels is an artistic challenge on the level of getting your work accepted by the National Academy.

I know this isn't the place to put this, but I have to say that this is now - by quite some distance - the ugliest and most irritating forum that I visit regularly.
As if the horrendously huge adverts and lop-sided, tiny text boxes weren't bad enough, the admins also made the decision to force users to load the mobile version of the forums by default!

I understand this is a free site, and appreciate all those who put in the effort to run it, but good god you really do make it difficult to enjoy posting on here.

I've gone for number 2, as that at least means one person will be happy.

The version I got had virtually everything removed - and this was without me changing any preferences, it just did it on its own!

I wondered if they'd made changes and it maybe just wasn't working on Firefox [this has happened before.. but no, it wouldn't work on IE either. It was only when trolling through the main site and looking at my preferences [which I'd left on default that I realised that someone [? had changed mine to a phone version. The mind boggles - why would anyone do that?
