| More likely that miller would be competing for sjelka's shirt. IMO. Miller can play either of half spots. On FB page someone said we were looking at Mead from Gateshead. Sounds equally likely.
Did anyone catch forum thing on radio? Wakey fans said jimmy said we were looking at making one more signing, specifically a half. Didn't hear it myself so dunno if it was said or not. Would have thought if he said something so specific it would have been mentioned on here TBH.

| According to social media, he's set to join Wakey.
Wakey fans seem to think Sammut is surplus to requirements.
Regarding the forum, Jimmy was asked about half back being the one position we lack depth. Jimmy said we're always looking.
Wouldn't complain if we signed Miller. It's another body it cover injuries, suspension, loss of form etc

| Wouldn't say it would give Gaskell competition for his jumper, more likely the other half back spot to be honest.

| I can't understand the mindset of someone who would rather have Jacob Miller in their squad over Sammut.
Admittedly he had a poor season last year, but was he utilised properly at Wakefield? Hard to say really, you look at his performances for us the season before last and he was one of the most dangerous halves in the league.
Miller, on the other hand, has looked awful ever since he arrived in the country.

| TBH, Sammut jumped from us, not for sporting reasons, but for a contract. A nice big, fat one that Wakefield said they'd pay him. He's clearly not there for the rugby hence his performances are not at a standard they should be.
Now, I've always like Jarrod Sammut as a player, however, he is the perfect example of a player who blows either hot or cold. When he's hot he can take teams apart, when he's not you can forget he's on the pitch. He doesn't seem to have a middle ground where he has just a solid game. It may be that he thinks he should be playing in a higher standard team, but no higher standard team seems to be that interested in signing him.

| We definitely could do with more cover at halfback but we also need another prop.
Miller may be pants but he's better than nowt. Currently we rely massively on Gaskell. If he gets a knock we have Sjieka who is an injury doubt paired with Addy (not quick enough) and Brook (unproven).
I'd welcome Sammut back provided he hasn't burnt his bridges and isn't asking for silly money.

He didn't say anything untoward at the time of his departure or since that I'm aware of so the rickety wooden bridge back to Odsal is still standing surely?

| he might not fit through the turnstile at the end of the rickety bridge (or there might be a troll under it with a taste for Maltesers boom boom) as Jimmy is the key difference to then and now: if I read correctly both his comments and Sjielkas its a gameplan player half back that fits the profile Jimmy wants not Sammuts improvisational skills which are wonderful when they work, dire when they dont. Sjielka was talking about his responsibility of putting the forwards on a roll, or putting Gaskell through a gap, moving the team around the pitch with his kicking game, all gameplan stuff
Friendlies to be announced soon, and I wonder if Jimmy is going to reveal his choice for captain, or will that be used a bit further down the PR line.

Well, the rickety bridge got a bit of stick during Ben Jeffries time at Odsal/ Belle Vue but he wasn't really weighty enough to damage it - despite the frequent use..

| If I'm honest I'm not sure if Sammut has ever looked settled at Wakefield. He jumped ship because of our financial difficulty and was offered a juicy contract over with the Wildcats. I'd have him back despite his disloyalty to us as he has the ability to make the difference in big games and win matches practically on his own on some occasions. He could prove the difference in matches against Leigh, London etc and then in the middle 8, should we qualify.

| Sammut left after being told he wasn't first choice despite having scored 20+ tries and consistently been our most dangerous player the previous season.
I keep reading about how Sammut could be a game breaker one minute and a liability the next but I've never seen it. His kicking game and passing are not great, his defence isn't anywhere near as bad as made out and he is a fantastic line breaker and finisher.
I hope Harry S gets fit and turns out to be a great signing but as of RIGHT NOW - I'd pick Sammut.

| Depends totally on how they go in training, how they 'gel', and how their individual skills complement each other, to be honest. Personally, I would start with the presumption that Sammut is at his most effective when coming from the bench against a tiring opposition and unless there were pressing reasons to do otherwise, that is largely how I'd expect to operate them.

Probably true but Siejka could be anything. Good pedigree, young, injury issues, little if any pre-season in an already difficult situation at Wakey makes it impossible to judge.
What if he's simply poor?

| Well, it has to be considered I suppose, though I can't really imagine that he has poor skill levels, given his early career. If there are other 'issues', other than his long list of injuries I don't know but I'm assuming/hoping the long, injury blighted, part of his life is now over and he can now kick on and get back on track. We've a mixed record in this situation obviously, but when they've succeeded they've done so big style on occasion, though I accept that Harry being another 'Big Les' is asking for a lot.

That rather assumes that we could both afford his expected wages and fit that figure under the cap. To be honest we can't say either of those for certain.

| Why does it free the way for Sammut? He played fullback a number of times for wakefield last season, they haven't really replaced Mathers after he left....seems like a logical process to me.
