Ganson (and the RFL) have apologised to Rovers and are admitting that a mistake was made - the try should not have stood.
Apparently Ganson was tracking the wrong bloke when he was reviewing the footage, which I thought at the time could be the only probable reason I could see for him giving the try as Green was clearly offside.

I think this is the end for Ganson, it will almost certainly be easier for him to skulk away into the shadows now - in his behind the scenes position - than it would have been had he still been a full time ref.

It was a bloody awful decision from Ganson. I think we can accept calls where the decision is open to interpretation and is perhaps 50/50. But to miss such a blatant offside is downright incompetence. Embarrassing.

Some bloody use an "apology" will do. This was an absolute shocker and for it to be done during the third biggest event club RL on these shores just makes it worse. If the RFL had any cojones then they would "posthumously" disallow the try and call the game a draw. But they won't.

As an aside - the Hull derby does not exactly have an exemplary record for crowd behaviour. I wonder how much trouble this caused in the streets?

Mr Ganson has quite simply cheated Hull KR and the game of RL yesterday. He should not be made to resign after this, he should be sacked for sheer incompetency.

Pretty certain, as we found out after first millenium magic, that there is no mechanism in rules to set aside a result due to riffing errors in operational rules.Even though try shouldn't have stood cant see how the result won't stand. If they do change result then it opens a can of worms.

No doubt this is indeed the case, and I fully expect it is.

However, in cases of exceptional incompetence, to the point of cheating, then something should be done.

I see the parallels with ourselves v Leeds in MM1 but the way the decisions were given were pretty different TBF. IIRC he did not use the evidence available and made a decision off his own back and could be forgiven for making the wrong call due to human error. It happens. Yesterday is a different kettle of cod I am afraid.

The one at Cardiff was the worse of the two imo, as it was a double whammy.

The initial penalty was a wrong decision brought about when, against the rules as they then stood, [VR Klein told Ganson [who had already ruled it correctly that a ball had been stolen, when, on further review it clearly hadn't. Then, when the resulting penalty hit the post it was picked up by Tansey who was probably more yards offside than the KR bloke yesterday.

As a circus of errors, it is probably the biggest cook up by our lords and masters since the charge of the Light Brigade.

To call him a Cheat would suggest that you have evidence that he stood to gain in some way personally from his aberration , and if so lets hear it ?

It may be that his competence for his role is in question , But calling the man a cheat is a pretty damning accusation that you should be prepared to back up .

Are you hard of understanding or something? Where did I call him a cheat exactly? I said that he cheated HKR out of at least a point. He did. Whether it was a mistake or not, HKR should have had something from the game but they ended up with nothing thanks to Ganson. They were cheated, pure and simple.

Quite similar to when people say that a team were robbed. In this instance it means that they were done out of a result by poor officials and/or an extremely dodgy decision rather than me suggesting that they were actually help up by Dick Turpin on their team coach on the way to the game.

When we drew against Leeds the rhinos scored twice in the first ten minutes, but the second was ruled out when JJB was offside and inside the ten but didn't interfere with play. We've benefited from those rulings too.
