Wanted to talk to you about the Bulls website and how embarrassing it is

spelling mistakes all over, the shop, and the lack of content. Really hope they can sort it out

Sorry, you seem to be a bit lost. You need to be contacting Bradford Bulls with the constructive suggestions you doubtless have. You have been to the website, so you have the contact details. There is no need to register on an independent global fans site just to do that. Hope that helps?

They have tried. Sadly all the e-mail links do not work due to the spelling errors they contain.

I think it has the makings of a good site but has been put on-line before it is really ready. Unfortunately, there are issues both in content and coding.

The match day reports need a stronger editorial lead and proper proof reading whilst the history sections need more substance and a richer mix of media.

Some of the coding - particularly on the scrolling menus - falls apart and there is no point having a search facility that is inactive. It's also not particularly user friendly when viewed on a mobile device.

Given the importance of the site to the marketing of the club it is a tough call whether it should be up in its current state. It might have been better to go for a staged introduction over the course of a few months.

To me, better some website than no website. OK & Co. didn't exactly have the luxury of time. Tough call? You seriously saying that there's an argument no website at all would be better? I find that rather odd.

Think we are at cross purposes. A web presence is essential. My point was that the flaws undermine its credibility. Better to prioritise and get the essential things (match day info, ticket sales, shop etc.) right at the first attempt and then stage in the rest of the content once it is at the same standard.

Just having a casual glance at the Bulls site and I must admit that I'm struggling to find this myriad of errors that you're bemoaning in what I must consider a poor attempt at trolling.

Perhaps you'd like to enlighten us on where these mistakes are?

Certainly not trolling myself. Can't speak for the original poster. Have a look at the full match report for the Hull match as an example and at the way in which the navigation on the history pages responds when you scroll.

Much of the site is pretty good but it is inconsistent.

I'm merely just stating observations which I think could be improved. I was not trolling far from it actually I just feel we could have a better website compared with the high standard of the other teams in the competition

Last time I looked, none of the other teams in the competition were bought out of administration a mere few months ago, having been within hours of oblivion.

The new owners anyway had a job on their hands to even launch a website, for a variety of reasons.

Maybe you are about to volunteer either your services to help them accelerate the new site deveopment and the creation of content, or provide some additional funds so they can pay others who CAN?

It's an observation, no need to get on the attack. We all know we have had our differences Adey but you always keep a cool head in any "scraps" with me. You seem to be taking this a bit personal IMO.

I agree,on reading the original post, Adey I think you bit his head off straight away.

Who was it who attacked the Bulls store so vehemently?

If they want a Bulls/Northern history section for the site developing I will happily (and proudly) do it.

And yet, I offer no apology for it.

For the reasons that I said, and others - not least, taking over a business where many of the previous admin and support staff had been lost, for good, and having to concentrate on getting a half-decent playing squad ready for the new season - I would have thought most people would be prepared to cut the club some slack for now in the non-playing department? Given the car crash they inherited?

The club just about managed to get a new website up and running before the start of the new season, and has never made any secret of it being ongoing work in progress. Remember, too, who ran and hosted the previous website, who the records show was owed a load of money by the previous company. So how helpful was he likely to be in facilitating the transition?

The OP gave (me) the clear impression of sniping from the sidelines - any fool can do that - without acknowledging ANY of the constraints I refer to. And comparing our new, work in progress site with those of other clubs whose sites have often been established for years and who in most cases now have a lot more funds to play with than we do. There was (to me) nothing constructive in the post, just criticism without supporting examples.

That someone seemingly newly-registered should make such a post his or her first contribiution on here also struck me as odd, but I'd hesitate to immediately brand the OP a troll (as I see has already been alleged) to give him or her a chance to establish their bona fides.

The OP is entitled to make observations about the present state of the site. Later on in the year, if nothing has changed I could probably agree with the general gist of the observations. But I wonder how you, or the OP, might feel if you believed you had done pretty well to get something to where it is at present - given all the other priorities too and funding constraints? Only to have your efforts not merely ignored, but criticised for not being up to the standard yet of other, well-established and funded sites?

And no, I am far from being in the current management's pocket - far from it, as those who have spoken with me lately are quite aware. I, too could make a range of observations about off-field progress so far, some favourable some less so. But, regarding the latter, I see no purpose or benefit in criticising whilst it remains very early days, with so much to do and limited resources to do everything at once. No-one gets everything totally right first time, and if the OP is indeed a Bulls supporter then he or she will surely be aware of how things stand?

I would agree with adeybulls post above. My issue (if it is indeed an issue) is over the strategy for the launch. Much of the site looks pretty good - parts of it look rushed.

My offer is a serious one. I would be more than willing to help and support the positive progress that has been made. Not sure how I could take this forward but would happily get involved. Uncertain who I would contact in the first instance, but if anyone closer to the new management could let me know I will follow this up.

It may be me but I have read all four of the Match reports, 2 first team and 2 academy and they look ok. Don't get your point at all.

I guess it's obvious they're bringing it up to speed in a piecemeal fashion and I'd assume the money available isn't open ended, but where exactly [iis[/i that the case in these straitened times?

Not sure about the shop, in fact the only complaint I've heard about the shop was more to do with stock than the website, but no complaints about tickets(AFAIK), so maybe the basics [ihave[/i been done right.

I much prefer this 'work in progress' approach to the alternative of not having a website; that would definitely be 'bad form' imo.

The thing is, Mick, they expect a highly-paid, full-time, experienced professional such as yourself to be 100% grammatically-correct and word-perfect at all times. It would be different , of course, if it was just a dedicated fan helping out as he embarks on a career...

It's work in progress and inevitably these improvements will take time.

Not forgetting that Bulls TV is still in the pipeline.

I know the people/person behind the scenes who is frantically running around trying to make important changes to the website and also trying to provide up to date match reports etc.
I can categorically say this person is doing his upmost best providing this service to you guys.

Personally working in IT/Web design I don’t think there is much wrong with the Bulls website at all, yes there’s a “few” errors here and there but the website was quickly put together and has grown since its launch.

Give it time…

So in short, its neither superb nor terrible and we therefore have nothing whatsoever to argue about in any way?
