| On Superleague extra time the "expert" tipsters had it:
Baz: Wakefield
Tez: Wakefield
Mr Wigan: Wakefield
Mr "I think I'm articulate": Wakefield
Brian "get to the barbers" Carney: Wakefield
Stevo: Wakefield
Also when Wakey scored that try just after half time the swingometer had the Wildcats to win by 18 points. Never saw that again wonder why?
It's great proving them wrong!

| Good, let everybody think that way and we'll pick up some wins based purely on their complacency.

| Just watched it this morning and Stevo really is an embarrassment. Prattling on about BJ playing in his dinner suit or something. He repeated himself quite a few times as well, the bloke is way past his best. Thankfully they seem to be reducing his air time a little but he really needs to be retired as the 2nd commentator. If they really must, let him air his rubbish at HT/FT.

Ermm no, the one showing the PTB areas is quite interesting. But the one before that was meant to show something about penalties but I couldn't any sense of it!!!

Yep, that's the one. It should go the same way as "try track".

| Each bar is a set of six. The longer the bar is, the more ptbs we completed within that set, so a bar that stretches right across our half of the screen is a completed set.
The P's indicate us being awarded a pen, the green T's are when we score tries.
Phil tries to use it to indicate periods of dominance within the half, any patches where there are a few bars clumped together would indicate repeat sets etc.
It's not set out in the most user-friendly way, but I can follow what it represents.

| Its a pretty simple graph, but useless. only thing you really need from it is set completion which they could just do it as a percentage. and one thing they should really look at is where teams finish their sets. That is a key thing, finishing your sets in their 20 making them go 80-90 meters to score is a good stat to watch. Normally tells the game with penalty count.
Stevo is a joke to rugby league coverage. The Kearney effort where he is screaming and carrying on about Kearney being 2inch from the lineand miles away, from a camera angle from behind, spelling out NO TRY in his cocky manor is a joke. Just spurts out crap and doesn't give his little brain a chance. Carney and even Eddie spotted it was a try and grounded. Spanner!

| I usually turn the tele on a few seconds before KO, I turn over at half time & off immediately the hooter sounds, so I miss the analysis. The margin meter thing is vaguely interesting but you don't need to be a rocket scientist to work out which team has had the most possession. Why people get so wound up about something so inconsequential mystifies me. One thing that would get me fuming though is if they had a big interractive flat screen with some smug git touching the thing rapidly to show action clips. I am sure they only use that in yawnion as it is far more interesting than the crap that precedes it.

| i am not aiming to be a Stevo knocker, and I respect him as a leading player of his day, but . . . unfortunately, he is losing the plot a bit. I agree he needs to be taken off the sharp end of commentating duties. He served a purpose (Mr Colourful, Bluff and Controversial Northerner) but however well he did that before, it isn't working now.
He is repetitive of his cliches and catchphrases to the point of tedium. Does he know he's doing it? He desperately needs to try something different: maybe a chip over the top. He's even started to unwittingly parrot occasional phrases Eddie comes out with, and that's excruciating, because he obviously doesn't know he's doing it.
He too often resorts to that condescending, up-my-own-arris tone, voice raised a few decibels presumably for dramatic effect, and too often now at inappropriate times when we should be hearing commentary.
And he has now surpassed even Andy Gray for imaginary conversations (..."[i and Sam says, 'I'll take the four' " etc.[/i Maybe in his head, he actually hears them?
Overall now my problem with him is that he doesn't sound natural at all, he sounds as if his whole routine is contrived, and like an uneducated bloke attempting (and predictably risibly failing) to make himself sound erudite, a bit like John Prescott. maybe if he would just let himself be himself, instead of coming out with all the "utilised" etc. bullcrap, he might still be entertaining?

I think you hit the nail on the head here. I think he plays up the "stevo" persona a bit too much nowadays. Having met the man I can confirm he's a lot more considered and thoughtful away from the microphone. I think he thinks he's entertaining but the banter is more contrived now and has taken over from any real analysis which appears to be left to Clarke and Wells.

Yes and in fairness I should have added that too. And he's a good speaker, too. Difference I suppose between working to a script and going off-the-cuff
