| OK, the tipping season has pretty much over and it looks like we are predicted by most to either scrape into the 8 or just miss out.
The only way we are going to make the playoffs is if the players maximise their potential. Our signings have been a mixture of decent British based players with potential, fringe NRL players and one NRL established player. They have plenty to prove!
Lets hope Mick and his staff can do it. The glass is half full!!!
In the winter of 95 and into 96 we built a squad that gelled and became something special. Spruce came from the league below after Widnes went out of the top division, and Graham similalrly did. Scales, Cook and Lowes were rejects from Leeds, Loughlin, NIckle and Dwyer were senior pros with allegedly their best years behind them, Calland was unproven at SL level, Bradley and Donougher were far from household names, McDermott was a plodder who'd not even been wanted by the club, Hamer and Fairbank were past it. McNamara had flattered to deceive at his previous club after a big future was predicted. Medley had been around for years, but never quite done it.
Robbie was almost forced out by previous coach, and proved to be like many of the others above, a legend.
So to the class of 2012, can they raise it as a team like the 95-6 vintage did? FRom the descriptions above, do we have parralells? And we have a genuine crop of young homegrown talent, something we lacked in 96. Heres to a turnaround in fortunes. This year the top eight, next year top five, year after a trophy!
