With the season not far away, i thought I would see if everyone still wanted to do the vote on the Man of the Match this year?

Yes, good to do again and thanks for your effort.
But.. Could you extend it to 5 players?
So often the vote for 3rd is split (with a mention) and a guy who comes 4th/5th should be awarded with some points over a full year.
Also - maybe going a step too far I know, but could the points be also summed and averaged over the number of the player's games played

Nearly every time last year I was stuck on 3rd. (apart from those times when we all struggled to find anyone who even warranted as high as third...)

Yes. Agreed. It was a job finding three players last year at times.

Got to admit that last season it was a bit weird that some players were getting 3rd place and only receiving 2-3 votes. However i am more hopeful that it will be easier to choose 3 this year

The average points idea from bobsmyuncle could be good when players are tied on points???

An idea i thought about was increasing the number of points awarded to the following:

1st = 5pts (last year 3pts)
2nd = 3pts (last year 2pts)
3rd = 1pt (same as last year)

This would mean that the best player (as voted by everyone) would receive more recognition in the points table than previous years.

I like that idea, that would make the MoM stand out above a.n.other players who deserved mentions

or 2 pts for 2nd with 5 for first?

maybe just do the average thing at end of year as a secondary type award? that way if someones had really impressive performances but missed a chunk of season through injury they still get some recognition.
