Thanks again to everyone who came last night and for the suggestions of game to show in the future. We have some of the games but not others as yet. If anyone has pre 1990 games on tape or DVD and would like to donate a copy to us with to go in our archive and share with others we'd be very grateful. The favourites for January 4th at the moment from last nights feedback are the 1996 Challenge Cup Semi versus Leeds and the 'great comeback' game against Halifax at Thrum Hall although we're still open to suggestions.

A very enjoyable evening! I'm sure a few more will be there next time as word gets around. We will definitely bring a few more folk with us next time. The format of the evening was spot on, although perhaps a slightly earlier start (8pm) and thus an earlier finish would be better with it being midweek. It would be good to see the 87/88 Yorkshire Cup Final replay v Cas again. Many thanks to John and Martin for organising it!

I was with John and Martin on Monday and can I just say that the team at Odsal are doing a fantastic job.

I think John talked about putting up a poll for the 4th January meet up.

Yeah, I saw the film. It was so old it was sepia in colour with subtitles and a bloke playing a piano at the side of the screen.

Is there a website or blog or anything about the games which have been shown, and which are available to be shown, or could one be done?

What I have in mind is a brief entry explaining what was notable about each game - pretty much the sort of comments on this thread. Maybe some form of a Wiki that people could add their own info to, or something like that?

Speaking for myself I've watched many hundreds of games over too many years, but apart from a few outstanding ones, am hard pressed to remember in general which were great games, or which ones contained moments of magic or high drama, unti, someone mentions it on this thread and I think, Oh yeh, yes I was there and I remember that".

One good example would be Dave Redfearn. He scored some of the best tries ever, I remember one in particular against Halifax where he beat all the Fax team to arc in under the posts. I can see him doing it now. But the thing is, it might not have been Halifax and I have no clue what game it what year it was.

Could be in 2 sections - a) games you have video for and b) notable games you haven't, but would like.

Wouldn't take much doing especially if anyone could contribute to it, could be an interesting resource.

We have an internal database of games recorded on either video or DVD and if anyone wants to research a particular game, just contact us. I'm afraid that, given our workload with the Odsal Past Times Project, to create a blog or website wouldn't be possible at the moment unless further volunteers were to come forward to help us.

I suggested those amongst some others. The first two were on ITVs Scrumdown programme, I used to have one on video but recorded over it by mistake some years ago



I'd love to see more of Nothern in the 70s and 80s, particularly during the successful period.

I'd recommend this evening to everyone, I certainly enjoyed the first one up at the Top House.

My Uncle out in Addingham has a collection of 80's Northern games on VHS which he used to religiously record off ITV's Scrumdown show.

I'm due to raid his cabinet in the new year with any finds being passed on to John and Martin.
