| News today states he has been released from hull kr.
This could be and option. Thoughts?

| I think his coaching days are well behind him now but despite that he'll always be the messiah.

He's a confidence player and at the moment he has precious little. Head goes down very quickly, don't think we need that

He would slot right in to the current squad!

There is a cracking player in there but the lads suffering at the moment, watch a fair bit of rovers and he's had a shocker this year. If someone could man manage him back to the player he was then yes but not sure we could do that.
Know you were joking

| Was one of the best in the league a couple of years ago and he is only in his mid twenties. Maybe a change of scenery might boost his confidence. Might be worth a deal is Ah Van is leaving?

| Fox is an out and out winger, whereas Ah Van is a big lad who can kick goals.

| [list[/list:uThat's my thinking. At the mo, we only have 1 SL standard winger signed up for 2012.

| I would only bring him in if the concept is to not sign Ainy up for another year or 2, but in saying that i would rather keep Ainscough over signing fox !!

Been playing outside Jake webster who's form has been good
He made the mistake of switching from left to right wing IMO as he didn't think he could shift Ryan hall at international level

| If Ainscough is leaving then he'd do for me
But I'd prefer to give Ainscough another year. He just seems to have a bit more spark about him

| Always rated him but I think it'd be harsh signing him when Ainscough is here. Think he deserves a chance next season.

| the guy would be an upgrade on all of our wingers if he can find form. whilst aisny did enough for a new contract imo, it was only glimses and nothing like fox has shown before. lets hope if we do get him, he is as sucessful as he has been recently at odsal

connors specifically stated potter is not thought to be interested in fox in todays t&a. so that would tend to rule that rumour out as unlikely. in talks with royston, ainscough and walker about new deals. Although way he's phrased it sounds like ainscough and walker are higher up priority list than royston. Suspect now roystons proved himself at this level he could proabably get a deal as a starting fullback at one of lower teams so might not be happy to stay here as a backup option.

| Eh, we are one of the lower teams!
I'd like to keep Royston and I'd put him above Walker in my priority list given which positions he can cover.

but we have an established fullback in kearney. maybe I should have put 'one of the other lower teams'.
hull kr could be looking for a FB with briscoe and cockayne leaving.

True and he is the first choice fullback but we need cover and Royston covers the back line better than Walker does IMO. Given the number of 2nd rows we have, his ability to cover there isn't an advantage.
Anyway much as I like Royston its not a critical signing for next year really. More of a nice to have.

dont forget platt and sykes are already under contract next year too though. If it was a blank slate contract wise I'd retain royston ahead of either of them but as it is how many utility backs do we need?. Given that we cant just release either platt or sykes without having to pay them off and the ensuing salary cap hit.

Fox is pretty quick, fast and speedy, oh and he's got pace to burn as well, he's also......................did I mention how nippy he was?
I know you can't buy speed or train it into someone who hasn't got it and its a great asset to have, but it is only really useful with a bit of ability to go with it. From what I've seen of Foxy, that's his downfall at the top level.

that was my thinking. plus he'd be able to command a better salary as a starting player than as a utility back.
