I mentioned this on the Hull vs Wakefield thread but thought such a big problem deserved it's own.

Yesterday an old lady entered the field of play at Belle Vue to abuse the officials. This also follows the news last week that Leeds United have banned a 63 year old Great-Grandmother for also storming the pitch.

This represents a worrying trend - Hooligranism has no place what so ever in the modern and family oritented sports event. I seriously hope that the powers that be stamp down on these people in order to send a message to the hooligrans that they are not wanted. We really need to be proactive on this issue I'd go as far as banning tartan shopping trolleys from grounds as they could be used to conceal anything.

It's only a matter of time before someone gets seriously hurt. That lady could have been carrying a knitting needle for god's sake!

If its was a 16-25 year old it wouldnt be hooligranism, they would be described as a thug, disgrace to the game, shud be banned for life.

But if its a old git who is 63, its ok?

It most certainly is not ok hence the thread. She could have used her plastic rain hood as a garotte. I know that's unlikely but it could happen and I feel isn't an over reaction. In the wrong hands this could be a deadly weapon...

No comment from Wakefield on this. I would have thought they'd want to get news of the old lady's ban out as soon as possible.

Clearly they don't take hooligranism seriously at Wakefield. Hopefully the RFL will fine them heavily.

Should be part of the criteria for new franchises - do you have procedures in place to deal with violent OAPs? Extra points given for OAP only enclosures, electric fencing etc

What if it's Supergran though, granted there's no Scottish franchise yet but you still have to factor these things in just in case.
