| The Bulls did also offer Lawrence Dallalglio a contract but he too chose to stay in union. Thomas swapped because he was a spent force in union and because he couldn't be himself.

| Wasn't Jeremey Guscott once also close to signing? Around 1994-ish I think. Obviously before Union went pro.

The worst thing about Rugby Union going professional was the dip in sales felt by the mattrass manufacturing industry.

| Not to mention Joost Van der Westhuizen and Jonah Lomu nearly signing on the dotted for our the Whinos. But it's ok, they got John Gallagher and Eddie Rombo instead.

Lomu played RU for Leeds didn't he and the Rhinos asked the question if he wanted to play League in the union off season?

Not so sure he did. Wendell Sailor was the one who did and was angling at that. Leeds for years tried to persuade Lomu but all in vain. In an era of parity, would have been great to see Big Les v Lomu. Ouch!

yes, it was Sailor. I was hoping he would play for them in a way so I could watch the man play in England.
Les V Lomu would have been an amazing contest, worth the admission itself.

| Sailor played for Leeds Tykes for a couple of months in the late 1990s. In fact I think he might have played a couple of friendlies for the Rhinos.
Lomu at his peak I reckon would have been even more damaging than Vainikolo was. In league he would have scored a shedload.

Maybe I am biased as a Bulls fan, but I honestly don't think there will ever be a winger who can do what Vainikolo did. One of a kind.

| Lomu in his prime was a freak, could have been amazing in RL. Vainikolo is still the best winger of the SL era mind.
