| Googled Bradford Northern, found [url=http://www.edms.org.uk/edms/1994-1995/1344.htmthis[/url.
Tbf, I was massively against the name change when it was brought in. Changed my tune pretty quickly.

I remember putting in a similar motion suggesting The Labour Party reconsider their decision to change their name to New Conservatives
I always thought we should’ve changed the name to the Bradford- Northern Bulls. I think everyone would’ve been happy.

The Northern name is still used as my debit for the lottery is in the name of Bradford Northern.

| EDM signed by, amongst others, the Beast of Bolsover himself, Dennis Skinner, and Ken Livingstone! Oddly enough, I've never seen either of them at a match but I suppose at least it shows they care!

| How things change huh? I was in the car when I heard the interview with Caisley as they made the announcement and nearly ended up in a ditch. What the hell was going on? We're a Rugby League club in Bradford, not some over hyped american football or baseball team!
The strange thing was that despite chants of Northern continuing for a while I can't really remember hearing them after the '96 season... or after Wembley '96 for that matter. It's strange that the club seemed to be the first to truly embrace SL and seemed to metamorphosise with a change of name and the coming of summer Rugby. Some clubs seemed to adopt new names but have never sat comfortably with them but the Bulls just seemed to work. A large part of this was probably the fact that we started being successful pretty much straight away and maintained it for a good few years as us and Saints became the most consistant of the front runners during the early SL era as Leeds and Wigan struggled with similar financial problems that we've had recently. If we'd struggled we may have ended up doing a Hull and dropping the silly name sharpish, but the we had success was linked with the Bulls and the club was superb at marketing both the club and Bull Power. Whilst the old school Northern fans grumbled and chuntered but accepted that this new fangled club were actually playing attractive rugby and were good to watch despite all the razamataz, the new fans brought an enthusiasm and energy that had been missing.
Lets hope we see the good times return this season both on and off the pitch!

| I was against the 'Rhinos' name change at Leeds when that was announced. It seems to have sunk in now with the new generation of fans and has become one of the more successful 'brands' in SL, compared to the likes of Wigan who are not really known as the Warriors to the same extent.

True. In Pieland it's still the monotonous "Wigan, Wigan, Wigan" song, while at Belle Vue there is the same paranoia & booing there was pre-Wildcats.

| I honestly don't see your problem with the name.
You could have had some big fat Bradford supporting B@st@rd change your name to Blue Sox, totally unmarketable, at least the Bulls name is quite easy to market and must have increased your turnover massively.

Not sure it's meant to be taken literally. I think it's just a generic insult in Halifax.

I'm not sure why they disliked the name, I mean it's not as though you can take the name Blue Frox and make it into something less than manly is it? Though I have to say that I took the bit about "big fat Bradford supporting etc" to be a little more than generic, and I suspect that Nigel wood!

| I don't think they have much of a problem marketing a team on the sock colour in the US but it's probably just one of those things that doesn't really tranlate on this side of the Atlantic.

| I guess the Sox names in Boston and Chicago have over a hundred years history each, and I suppose 'sox' may have been quite a cool name at the beginning of the 20th century... more accepted than in mid-1990s Halifax.

| That annoying Blue Sox song the ground pa played after every bloody try in the 98 season and even more so during the 25-12 loss in the rain.
You know the one that started with thunderstorms and then went Naaaa Naaaa Na Na Na Naaaa Naaaa Blue Sox.
Jesus wept and I thought we've played some stinkers.

| That 'song' used to feature on adverts on the Pulse as well.... It was catchy. Maybe there was something in the Blue Sox name!

Both the Chicago and Boston teams were called Stockings before they were shortened to Sox. Fax should have given that a crack.
