I'd avoid jumping to conclusions straight away. And the wording in the press release is curious. Let the Loiners (and the great unwashed fekkwittery on Substandard) come to a conclusion first? Does make you wonder when this was decided?

Well, it was always the plan that McDermott would be taking over. But that was meant to be in 12 months. You have to question what is going on behind the scenes at Headingley. First, 2 long standing coaches up and quit, then one of their long serving home grown players who's only just signed a one year deal. Then their head coach walks away.

I think it was decided a few week ago and Brian Mac was asked who he wanted at the club/who he saw as surplus.

Transition now fully underway at Leeds. Could be some interesting times ahead for our neighbours. From what I hear about McDermott from Quins supporting friends he'll need to improve to keep the Loiners happy.

Funny, I'm sure a few Rhinos fans were on here taking the p*ss about us potentially getting McDermott as coach, proclaiming him to be rubbish. What's the betting he's now the second coming?


In all reality, I suspect this was decided ages ago. Always seemed odd for Cummins & Poching to leave and then McDermott to leave a head coach job to become assistant. Seems to me that this was all decided back then but nothing mentioned until the close season so as not to cause unrest.

Should make for an interesting few weeks and months. Wonder who'll come in as assistant to McDermott. Perhaps McNamara may go and help? That'd be good.

Indeed it is not too late...

We have lost 3 senior players, one our second choice hooker, another a second row that was only with us for a season and the other a winger who would have left at the end of next season anyway, not too sure how that will change much. The big difference is the coaching staff, look what happened to Wigan, when they bought in an unproven coach.

There's a rather a desperate air about some Leeds posters today.

Certainly could be the end of a "cycle", happens to all clubs including ourselves. Its great having a consistant squad for a number of years but at some point a big change will occur.

I would hope that we will follow Wigan into the start of a new cycle whilst it appears Leeds and Saints may be in a transition period.

Time will tell, but im not convinced a young unproven coach is the way to enable a successful transition.

Brian Mac isn't an unrpoven coach though. He's been a head coach for a few years now.
