| Not from me, just taken from another forum, so to go along with Iafeta Palea'aesina, Leon Pryce and Karl Pryce...
We've signed Chev Walker from Hull KR
Glenn Hall's leaving, he's off to Castleford
Steve Menzies off back to Manly to coach juniors as Bulls have not offered him another contract
Fielden and Aspinwall are in talks
We've been offered Andrew Ryan fom Canterbury
Nick Scruton off back to Leeds
Then there's this interesting peice about Orford which could have something in it unlike the others...
Gday folks, Beaver is coming home to Brookvale. He will be in charge of the juniors.
I do belive that Brett Kimorley is in talks about a 1 year deal to replace Orford who could sign with Newcastle.
However. This is subject to Bradford agreeing a deal with Kimmorley.
Andrew Ryan has been offered to Bradford and is talking to them. along with Hull KR, Salford and Leeds.

| The chap (Bradfittler) that posted the Menzies bit is the same one that broke the McNamara story.
I have a horrible feeling that he's right on some of this. I hope Beaver is retiring rather than us not offering a deal. Especially if it's Ryan in his place - that would be criminal.

| Ive got a feeling he could be right with the Kimmorley and Orford story, i would have Andrew Ryan as a replacement for Beaver if he's going home.

Will they be paying a transfer fee, as he is still under contract?

| I could see us being interested in Walker, Aspinwall, Ryan (If Menzies goes), Fielden and Kimmorly (If Orford Goes). Not sure I'd agree with all of them (any?) but I could see them as the sort of transfers we might go for given our circumstances.
Hasn't Aspinwall been playing mainly backrow for Hudds since injury and before current injury?
Can't see Hall going to Cas, Can't see Scruton going to Leeds (unless it pays off a part of a completely unrelated debt). I can see Orford and Menzies not being here next year though for different reasons.
I don't think Fielden will come back (or would want to), I think he's done enough this year to earn a new deal on reduced term (probably) with Wigan.
Still no stand off rumoured I see... (excepting the not happening Leon one)

Some true, some way off beam.
Scruton to Leeds? No. Not even close.
Andrew Ryan's agent has been whoring him out to all and sundry in SL in the hope of a new NRL contract.
The rest, no comment.

| Well it is that time of the year. Will will be linked with anyone out of contract, especially those at the back end of their carreers. Also any decent players we have who are out of contract will be linked with other clubs. I don't expect the Club will change it's stance on not informing Fans of new signings in a timely manner. I also don't expect to be filled with entusiasm about incoming and outgoing deals.

| If Menzies is leaving, it will be some signing to replace him! If he does leave we should be using the spot to recruit some class to our backline. We have enough quality in the 2nd row without using up a quota spot.
Noddy for Orford doesn't seem like a great bit of business either. Signing a player who is nearly 2 years older on a 1 year deal. Hopefully they will stay as rumours!

| I think the Menzies story is probably sensible...he can't be enjoying his rugby at the moment and he's probably listening to his body saying it's just not worth it. Glen Hall....I can but hope thats true, Scruton would be a huge loss unless as someone has mentioned it's to pay off a certain debt

But then why would Leeds take back a player they "let go" (albeit via offering a lowly contract renewal) for a fee or in due payment for a 6 figure annual sum, which won't be completed till the end of next year?
As likley as me winning the St Ledger as the winning jockey.

[uIF[/u Orford were to depart, we would almost certainly have to sign an Aussie replacement (no one ready to take over in our squad, no one currently available in the UK). Pretty much by definition, it would have to be a lesser or older player than Orford (better players in their prime being unlikely to want to jeopardise their representative career, while a Robbie-esque unknown would probably not get a work permit). If he's willing to come over, Kimmorley just about fits the bill, and a year (while monitoring Southernwood's progress and the availability of other players) also sounds reasonable. It's to be hoped that there would also be a significant saving to use elsewhere in the squad.

| Any truth in the rumour that Richie Spedding is on his way to odsal? It would be difficult to fit him under the salary cap but he'd have the fans flocking back to odsal in their droves.

I just wonder if we're going down the wrong route by taking on a 35 year old halfback for 1 year. I doubt Noddy will be asking for less money than Orford and can we afford to have another slow start to SL whilst our 'star import' settles both in his new life and with his new teammates?
I know people will say 'look at Menzies' and it is a fair point but I just feel we could do with some stability at halfback. I think Menzies has been a fantastic signing for the club but I'd prefer we signed somebody for a minimum of two years. It is a bit of a gamble to say CS will definitely be good enough to be our chief playmaker in little over 12 months time.
I really hope Orford returns, I thought he came across as a decent guy who would see out his contract with us.
