I'm pleased with this news, Kopczack improved as the season wore on. With the rumours of another Prop coming in maybe Fielden or Dowes i suspect Crossley will be released now?

Pleased with this. He came on no end towards the end of last season, and you could see his confidence rising.

Agree on Koppy but strongly disagree on Crossley. Done nothing wrong as a 20 year old prop in an awful team. A strong squad needs 5 mature props as a minimum plus 2 or 3 rookies to get experience when injuries take a toll. Neither Burgess has made their debut yet and are still only teenagers so keeping Crossley is a must I feel.

Glad he has re-signed as he has stepped up recently. Personally would have only have given him 2 years, but not my decision.

Re Crossley - maybe the club expect the emergence into the first team of one of the Burgess boys and may release him (Crossley) due to this? The club can't sign / keep everyone

Good news if he keeps improving like he has this year. Remember he was injured playing for Wales last year so a full preseason will help.

Don't know whether this is a good or bad decision, yeah he has played well since macca went but he was seriously average before that! Probably worth giving him a punt under Potter but agree with Bradford Badger maybe a 1 or 2 year contract would have suited better!

He's really kicked on towards the end of this season (he did so last season too) and hopefully Potter will get the best out of him and won't just play him for 10-15 minutes a match.

Excellent news, and I'd be inclined to keep Crossley on as well. Props tend to get better with age and he already showed some promise despite being only 20 years old.

I'm glad he's signed a new contract as his improvement at the back end of this season has warranted it. However I'm not convinced 3 years is the right amount, as I'm not sure he's showing enough yet to justify a long deal. Hopefully he will though and if he continues the improvement he has shown recently, he will justify it.

To play Devil's Advocate for a moment though, does anyone think it would have been a 3 year deal if he wasn't a "home grown" player with the current rules in place?

Probably wouldn't have gotten the contract length without the HG status, I agree. But hopefully he'll justify it starting next year and hopefully we will have a more sensible interchange rotation under Potter which will see him play longer than 15 minutes again

Yup, definitely.

Koppy really is one of those players who you want to see do well. He seems such a nice and genuine lad that you really want to see someone like that succeed. Hopefully the security of this deal will give him some confidence, and along with a bit more game time, see him live up to some potential.

Has earnt the new deal I reckon. He's improved no end with more game time and has plenty of potential. As a home grown player the deal was a no brainer really.
