| How is it Forshaw is allowed to coach from on the pitch? He spent more time on the field than some of the Wigan players....

| Every time, mate. Every time.
Its about time summat was done about it. He's worse than Mercer ever was.
I gather judicious use of a bazooka is relatively effective...

| Good to see MF back on the pitch at Odsal in any capacity, even that one.

| Why don't referees just give a penalty to the other team? They would soon stay off the pitch.

| The RFL actually brought in some sort of rule a few years back to keep the trainers off the pitch, except at very specific times. It was listened to for a little bit, but not very long. Now it seems to have got stupidly out of control again to the point where the trainer pretty much just stands behind the attacking line, directing the play, much like a luminous orchestra conductor.

They do. However some do it more than others, and you could certainly notice with Forshaw last night.
IMO, nobody should do it. I understand if they need water in the summer, but that's all. They're allowed to run on to tell a player who's about to be substituted, but could that potentially be done by the 4th official? (I appreciate that may not be practical, but if it is, it's worth considering).

| I am not defending Forshaw or any other coach who does it BUT I think the rule is that after a substitution a "coach " is allowed on for 3 minutes to re-organise the positions etc. Having said that if you are allowed 3 mins for each sub and you are allowed 12 interchanges then they would be allowed on for 36 mins of the game. Total farce but all clubs do it.
Also if a team cannot re-organise after a substitution then they should get a new captain.

the last time i saw the regulations on who's allowed onto the pitch and when, it stated that once the sub has been made the trainer must leave the field of play. but i have been out of the rfl for a while now so it might have changed.

| Actually it did us more favours in the second half as his directions confued the Pies, perhaps he still thought he was still "Running with Bulls"
I have never noticed it have a positive effect when a trainer/water boy comes on barking orders it just confuses their own team and incense the opposition fans! Refs are allowed to red card them if they do overdo it, I'm sure that happend to Ming at least once!

Also in the vast majority of games most of the the substitutions are pre-planned so who's going where should have been worked out before game begins.

I dont think they are allowed 3 mins to re-organise the team - I seem to recall they are allowed to be on there for 3 plays of the ball - I also remember Castlefords water carrier being announced over the tanoy as the man of the match a few seasons ago
