I actually read that this morning without noticing they Ryanair blokes name.



Ryanair are crooks IMO and I really hope Steve isn't working for them!!!

What! You trying to say it`s illegal to advertise flights at £9.99 only to find that when you add in all the usual things you should expect from an airline ( to check a bag in, a seat, visit the toilet, etc )that it`s much more??

Obviously not but it should be.

They should have to advertise flights at the typical cost rather than a made up cost without all the extras in

What this wheeze is, is deciding to advertise a seat for £X, but actually charge £X + £Y. This should be unlawful, and almost is, but the first part of the scam is to firstly describe £Y as a "booking fee".



(I.e. "yes the price is £X, but if you actually want to BUY one we charge you extra for that"icon_wink.gif



And stage 2 is the discovery they made that you CAN advertise the price EXCLUDING the "booking fee" - as long as it is really possible to book, without paying the booking fee.



And so it is. If you book with Ryanair and pay with something called a Mastercard Pre-paid card, then (but only then) you do not get charged a booking fee. Any other method, you do.



But the availability of a no-booking fee payment method, however obscure and unfeasible, makes the scam legal.

I must have flown Ryanair 20/25 times in the last 5 years and I know what I'm getting. I've had no problem even taking 4 kids with me.



When I consider that in the early 90's I was paying £300+ for a return flight for 1 from UK to Ireland and I'm currently looking at taking the whole family from Dublin to France for €400 later this year I'm quite happy that Ryanair is around.



The booking fee is a bit dubious but I'm fully aware of it.
