I've been reading recently that Leeds, Huddersfield & Saints (and probably other teams too that I've not read about) are taking advantage of this new "dual registration" rule.



The way I understand it is that a player is registered with both your team and another lower division side, and can train/play for either, without having to mess about with loan specifics. Presumably the club the player belongs to always retains priority.



Has anyone heard anything about any of our players being dual registered? If not, who do we think would be a good shout to get it?



Although Rochdale would be the obvious place for them to go due to our working relationship, I would think they'd be better off playing in the Championship, so perhaps Dewsbury might be a good place for them to be. I'd certainly look at sending Jason Crookes and Steve Crossley on it myself, as both have potential to be in our first team this year, but probably only if there is an injury or two in their positions. That means they get a nice bit of regular championship action, but get to play in our first team if needed.

It would be a good thing for both of them to get some proper 1st team experience under their belt. Also, might be good for the Burgess twins (i'm not getting bogged down in that semantic arguement again) to be duel reg'd as well

Hang on Roofaldo, RL is dangerous enough without being registered for any of that!!

I'd like to see Kieran Hyde get sent out, but dont know where. Dewsbury have a squad of 35+ players with first team experience, and Jowitt seems very happy with them.



Maybe with the financial trouble they're having Keighley could be an option?

Back on topic I'd rather have players out in the Championships than playing academy (or whatever they are calling it next year).

how does it work on the salary cap though? if it's a loophole then it should be closed. if the SL club is picking up the salary bill then that would be fine.

I suspect it's just another form of loan deal with the club who owns the player's proper registration paying his wages. I'm sure I saw something about it being part of the reserve grade changes, due to there being a few players that wouldn't be eligible for U21s, but still in first team squads. Although I may have dreamt that.

think the advantage is that the parent club has priority all the time. whereas the more normal loan deals have minimum time periods before player can be recalled.
