I think the Ox is a great player, tough as old boots, skillful etc, but a large offer for someone who will be nearly 32 when the new season starts... I'm not sure. Still I think I said the same about Beaver and was happily proven wrong, and given Manly are our feeder club, I expect it's only a matter of time before we get Matai and Watmough as well!

It is an interesting strategy when you think about it, gradually recruit the 2008 NRL GF team that were the last lot to do Leeds over in a recent final. I think (a la Fielden) Burrow lost some of his edge when flattened by Watmough, don't think he's cut it intimidation wise ever since

TBH even on poor form he's a better player than Deacon and given he'd be playing with 3 other ex-Manly players he'd soon fit in.

Menzies bled Manly Maroon, but still left. As pointed out earlier, the fact that we've got (seemingly) half of his former team-mates playing for us will go very much in our favour, and will give us viable competition for the halfback position.

He'd command too much wages for an older player, plus we need the quota spot for a three quarter.


Seriously, if we sign him, then we have three potentially quality halves fighting for a spot, that's great. But then we also have Platt and Sykes fighting for a centre spot
