1925 Exhibition Crowd Required for Filming

Outline of project

Speaking Film Productions Ltd are making a film called ‘The King's Speech' which follows the life of King George VI, his difficulty with public speaking and how he overcame this with the help of his speech therapist named Lionel Logue.

The film opens at the British Empire Exhibition Closing Ceremony in October 1925. It was at this ceremony that ‘Bertie' the future King George VI and then Duke of York made a public address to the large crowds. During this address his stutter attracted the full attention of the public and The Royal Family.

Historically this ceremony took place in Wembley Stadium but we will be recreating this event at the Bradford Bulls Stadium & a local location. These scenes are due to be filmed on Wednesday 16th December ‘09.

What they require of you.

They are looking for people to act as audience in these scenes. The shooting day will be long and one can expect to be called early in order to get ready for filming and be needed to remain all day until filming is finished.

Due to the historical period the following restrictions apply:
Men – You must be over 18 years of age & prepared to have your hair cut into the style of the period by us (Short back & sides with length on top, so please allow your hair to grow until we see you)

Women – You must be over 18 years of age.They are unable to use women with hair that is much longer than shoulder length or with unnaturally coloured hair (e.g Pink, Mauve).

All – They are quite restricted by the costumes available for the period. So please do not be disappointed if they are unable to use you.

What you can expect.
1) Open Casting: Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th November 2009 between 0900 & 1800.
Anyone interested would need to attend the Coral Stand, Bradford Bulls Stadium for an open casting at which one's picture, measurements & details will be taken. From this casting they will select the audience group.

2) Selection
We will contact you and let you know if you will be used or not.

3) Costume Fittings & Haircuts:
Those selected will be informed of a time (between 09:00 & 17:00) and fitting at Bradford Bulls Stadium on one of the following dates; 4th, 8th, 9th, 10th & 11th December. You will need to allow approximately 2 hours from the arrival time we give you.

4) Filming day: Wednesday 16th December 2009. (This may change but hopefully not).
It will be on location in Bradford/Leeds. It is very likely to be an early start so you would need to be able to get yourself there. You will get breakfast, lunch & hot & cold soft drinks.

5) Payment
The daily rate will be £70–00 plus a £10–00 payment which is inclusive of costume fitting & haircut.

Not only do they give you a wig if you're a baldy-locks like you and I, but they also supply a pretty frock and rouge.

I'm ok with those bits, it's just the wig I need.

I'd have quite liked to do this, but I don't want to lose the bet I currently have going to grow a 3 inch afro, so I'll have to pass
