Quite a different mindset in operation at Wigan to Bradford.
I don't understand this shortsighted perspective. This is why Wigan have won nothing for the last 10 years IMO. Demanding a trophy of any coach in their first season is too much.
I know there were a few quips on here about McNamara studying the contents of Solomona's dustbin but the new Wigan coach may have to resort to extreme measures to get Feka & Riddell to get into shape.
Maybe Maguire will be available for the Bulls when McNamara's contract runs out at the end of the season

| expectation at wigan has always been high tbf. This guys taking over at a time when they have arguably their strongest squad for years so maybe this time its not unreasonable. Be funny if he doesnt get a visa though

| Getting the players into shape is the job of the conditioner and a nutritionist, doesn't really have too much to do with the head coach.

Of course it is!!!
The head coach has to be responsible for and look at all aspects of his team.
If a player is unfit not only does the head coach have to boll*ck the player but also the fitness coach as well and ask wtf is going on.
At the end of the day it’s his head on the line if the players let him down so he’s got to make sure everything is right.
Also funny how the op manages to miss out this vital quote by IL? Maybe he read the first half of the article and got all giddy at a chance to knock Wigan.
"There is no delay in professional coaches. But will he get sacked after one year if we don't win one? No, he won't."
At the end of the day the Wigan club, like your own, are judged on trophies and want to be contesting and winning finals. Can’t see why it all of a sudden seems wrong to admit it?

My boss has a thing about the word. I've even heard him come out with such gems along the line of "Clearly, things have yet to become clear on this. Until there is clarity, I suggest we're clear that we're unable to provide clear advice. Is that clear?"
A good one he came out with recently was directly from Predator (and he knew it)
"Colleagues, as you're well aware, we ain't got time to bleed!".
He's like Sir Humphrey Appleby on crack.

What a quality line that is. Along with Arnie's "get to the choppa", they are the two greatest lines in that film.
Just on the subject of words bosses love, when I first started my current job 9 years ago, I had a boss who loved the term "okey cokey". To the point where when he interviewed me for the job, he used the term for every single answer I gave to every single question he posed. How I managed to keep calm in the intervew and not leap over the table and kick him in the head, I still don't know, it was infuriating.
A completely irrelevant story, but the comment just reminded me of it, so thought I'd share

The anoraks on here who like stats can look at the seasonal changes for players in and out since Macca took over, 8 seems lower than usual. I'm sure Pystic will have a view on this article

agreed the caoch oversees everything but if the players are not fit then its the conditioner that should be going. He is obviously not training them correctly for the demands of the sport and I doubt the majority of coaches will have much of an idea how to condition professional athletes for elite sport.

| think its fair to say tupou, whilst he technically didnt leave till mid season, should count as part of last years departures as he didnt play a single game and we started process of terminating his contract in january before season started. other than that its interesting that we have turned over an average of 7/8 players each year for the last six years, which includes nobbys last 2.
what would be interesting to see would be same figures for incoming players each year for same period. And I'd include players promoted from academy in those figures. Whilst people get excited over incoming signings we seem to overlook the players beingpromoted from academy level into the 1st team squad, who imo are just as much a signing and are much more important long term for the club.
