I thought that was last season, with all the close games lost by 2-6 points that by the 'law of averages' you should have won more of. No wait, it was the season before when the RFL conned you out of 4-6 league points



All this 'what if' business reminds me of something... It's all a bit too reminiscent of the plight of long-suffering Leeds fans pre-2004. Maybe that's why I like this messageboard so much

OK, the chances of us making the playoffs are almost discountable. But if perchance squadrons of pigs were indeed seen wheeling round the skies above Odsal and we did indeed make the playoffs, and actually made some progress...even to OT, and maybe even won the bloody thing (remember, this is all total hypothetical conjecture, before some Loiner grabs this for their sig...) could you IMAGINE the total complete and utter apoplexy across the game??? We'd be accused of all sorts, and of making the competition a joke (and that's just from the SackadaMacka brigade who would look very silly

). And before you knew it the RFL would change the rules to make sure it could never happen again!

Shame that this delicious thought will only ever be that...but you must admit we'd sure have ENORMOUS amounts of fun if this billion-to-one-odds jobbie did ever to happen!

I know exactly what you mean, I was talking to a Hull FC supporting friend of mine only yesterday about this (which is why it came to my mind earlirer) and I pointed out that technically, as of this moment we could still win the whole thing..which he obviously dismisses, and I said, but can you imagine the uproar that would cause??? It'd be worth it just for the comedy value on this board alone, never mind anyone else.

Well, 1/5 chance of the other results going our way, probably a 1/2 chance of us getting the wins, then an average 1/3 chance in each of the three play-off games and a 1/4 in the GF - I reckon we've got about a 1/1000 chance of winning the comp at this point.

The competition is designed so that it is possible for the scenario you describe to happen. I wouldn't complain if Bradford DID win the GF this year (I'd be a bit miffed at the side currently top of the league to blow things in such a spectacular fashion though!).

It's a bit like tennis scoring. You could lose 2 sets, five games and be three match points down without winning a single point, but then come back to win the match (unless you're a woman

). Not likely but certainly possible and most definitely within the spirit of the competition.

Bit like the Ashes cricket series in 1982 (wasn't it?) when IIRC we followed on in the third test, and ended up winning the series?
