He's a centre, and a very good one.

| Dont see why we don't see if Reardon's knees will still hold up to SL.
He can't expect to earn top dollar given his recent troubles off field as well as his injury record and he ticks the home grown box too

I agree, but not as the game breaker we crave. He's not that. Would offer good competition for the wing, and cover for all over the backline. And as you say, he would be able to command top dollar.

Is he decent? I never really watch Canberra much. Is he any better than the other possibles mentioned such as Millard?

I think he's a very good centre, he's bigger, stronger and faster than Millard. He's got a strike rate of more than a try every two games. He's about 6ft 5, and 15st, just what we are missing in the three quarters in my books.

Completely agree with all that, Reardon is a good call for mine, probably able to pick him up on a fairly short low wage contract given his circumstance. (if hes interested in coming back mind, didnt he leave under a bit of a cloud?) Bit of a gamble, but if our other first choices don't come off Reardon could be an option IMO, has he been linked with anybody since he flirted with Hull or is he out the game next year??

Not sure if he's out of the game, but Achilis injuries are difficult ones to come back from. Hopefully he hasn't lost interest, but given his time out from the game, Stu will probs want the best deal he can get.

True, hope he gets back on track next year. Thinking back, just how good was he during the end of 2003? especially his performance in the Grand Final that year. Shame he never seemed to quite reach his potential after that.

He was very good, but he took the dollar dollar bill ya'll, when he should have stayed and and improved as a player. That right wing was his for the taking.

| Purtell? You can have him. For free.
I don't want to sound too harsh, because he's a good depth signing, but not really NRL standard, and has been out of favour at the Raiders, making way for our young guns. Pretty sure he's played most of the season in the QLD Cup.
He's got size, so he's handy with high balls in defence and perhaps less so in attack. He is quite slow, much slower than Millard. He turns like the QE2. His defence is fairly good and has a better knack of scoring tries from centre than wing. There is a running joke between Canberra fans that he's never made a linebreak, which isn't quite true, but is firmly based in reality. Tackle breaks are almost as scarce.
Can we send you him and Brett Kelly, as well as Phil Graham (genuine talent, who we unfortunately can no longer afford to keep), in return for Burgess? There are a couple more you can have if need be.

| Still, he'd make a great signing for Bradford.
CGD, look how well Howell and Dobson are going in the ESL yet both out favoured at Canberra, Purtell would be a superstar and would rip it up!
He had a few good seasons 07/08 but since his DVT he's not been back to his best, Canberra managed to secure him at the end of last season as Melbourne showed interest, but we're looking to free up $$$
Celtic Crusaders are pretty much favourites.

| Howell's going well is he? He always had a bit of talent, but made a permanent habit of making errors at the most innocuous moments. His defence also let him down.
I was never a fan of letting Dobbo go, I think he was treated fairly badly by the Raiders over a period of a few years. His defense and lack of pace were partly the reason why he was let go, but also with Todd Carney and Terry Campese as first-choice halves, we couldn't afford to pay Dobbo what he was probably worth and keep a handful of our other young halves as well.
