There are plenty of issues there, but its for the RFL to sort out.

If the RFL want to award us them, that's entirely up to them and I wouldn't complain (as long as Wigan & Salford got the same). However for us to go seeking those points screams desperation.

Surely they only became ineligible after the investigation uncovered that they had abused their visas in earlier years, and that only concluded last week.

If the RFL chose to reverse celtic's results then I for one will be happy with the extra 2 points as that would make the play offs a more likely posibility given that we'd then only be 1 point out of the mix

however, as I said on a previous thread, i'd be ashamed if the club went sabre rattling and demanding the 2pts back because at the end of the day we lost that game because we played poorly.

it's the same situation with sheff utd whining about relegation because of tevez playing at west ham. if utd had played better than they had been doing that season then tevez goals wouldn't have mattered as they'd have saved themselves from relegation

Were they actually ineligible under RFL rules though? They, presumably, were registered at Red Hall, a registration which, again presumably, the RFL clearly accepted, so there is no break of league regulations and therefore no playing sanction to come from the rugby authorities.

You could argue bringing the game into disrepute I suppose, but that might bring suspensions and or fines, though it wouldn`t normally lose match points.

Weren't the visa's for this season OK so they weren't ineligible this year. If any teams should feel hard done by it's the teams in the national leagues the last 2 years.

Hood's got an early PR shot in before other clubs. It works cos he doesnt appear churlish but knows that any protestation would have been inconsequential anyway.

We should also go back to every offence, missed by the ref, where the offender was subsequently suspended, & give the points to the opposing teams if they lost. Also the teams who beat Clts should get addtional points for as they would have undoubtebly won by more wihtout the big 6.

I see Leeds go top with a 68-nil win, 64 points better than Saints managed earlier in the year.

On the face of it we acted with a sense of sportsmanship and fair play by refusing to demand the two points back,
whereas Leeds took full advantage by playing a full-strength squad against their depleted ranks in order to get as many points as possible.

It's not that I'm biased you understand. It just becomes easier and easier to identify who are the good guys and who are the bad guys.

Especially Widnes, who were surely the favourites to get a franchise before the RFL fast-tracked Celtic in.
