Based on recent performances, we could have a worse 6 next season. I can't help thinking that Platt is being tried out in the centres in case we don't get Millard and we need a centre.

As much as i'd like a new 7 I can't see it, but it's plain to see that 1 of those is considerably weaker.

I've already said I'd have no problem with Sykes playing stand off.

I'd rather have him there than bring in an Aussie (Kearney) to play there, Halley doesn't deserve to be moved places really. I really hope we sign Millard, i'm not too sure about Kearney, but I'll reserve judgment.

I can't see why we would sign Kearney, we've got a fab little FB, That scores and creates tries for others, why should we sign in another and move him? Also, Semi, I dont wanna lose him, we'll struggle to find one as good, and Dave and Rikki certainley arn't, and I can't see Rudd being either.

I'm not sure about Rudd, he has looked good, but thats only in reserves. I think it would be a big loss if Semi were to go aswell.


It would just seem an idiotic move to take the FB spot away from Halley after this season, especially as he's a home-grown player whos had an excellent season. I'd only shift him for Slater, Hunt or Stewart.

Stupid play by Sykes. Certainly held onto the ball far too long and certainly not in the spirit of the game. Some may call it a harsh decision but he only had himself to blame for it. Thankfully it didn't prove crucial and Sykes otherwise had an outstanding game.

Credit to Sykes last night. He certainly looked the part at 6.

Whether he can do it week in, week out for the full season would be my concern. However, I'm certainly not adverse to giving him a go.

Back-up in that plan. If Sykes and Deacon could play like they did last night, then i'd have no problem with our halves next year. 1 or 2 games a season isn't good enough from our captain though.

He looks a different player at 6, and with a useful boot seems wasted in the centres. We seemed to look much more dangerous in attack last night, I'm certain some of that is attributal to Sykes.

pretty much all the games where weve clicked this year sykes has been playing in standoff position. Offers us a different kicking option to deacs, whose a bit too predictable in his kicking options these days imo.

Also they can move him around a bit in the line making him harder to target when he's defending
