Think the total quota comes down to 7 doesn't it? Mind you I could be wrong, it's more complicated than ever. Even the play offs are more easy to understand than this - which is saying something.

Tadulala will come off the list this year if resigns but Nero will only come off next year if he resigns for us.

reading in to what he said, IIRC , was that they couldnt garentee him a spot, which to me reads that no one is actually signed up but weve got irons in fires

your squad details thread is consistently the most single useful thread on this whole website as far as I'm concerned, keep up the good work.

they changed that bit, nero will become fed trained whoever he signs his next contract for, doesnt have to re-sign for us. Wonder if theres any rule to prevent us terminating his contract at end of season by mutual consent and then immediately re-signing him to get him fed trained status a year early?

I see Brett Finch has re-signed with the Storm, a player rumoured to be SL bound earlier this year. If we're looking at the NRL how many more halfbacks are now available? Lockyer is rumoured to be about to agree new terms at the Broncos, I think Orford is the only high profile halfback still to confirm where he'll be next season. Perhaps we're looking at a lesser known player from the NRL... surely we cannot be considering Sykes/Thorman as our options for next year?

We aren't considering Thorman, I'll believe Macca on this one.

Orford would be a huge signing for us, he'd be the little general we have lacked this year. But can't see it unless we're releasing Deacon as well and that would then leave us needing two halfbacks. Unless Macca was being serious about Sykes at 6, but for me to be happy about that I'd want to see a top quality centre and scrum half recruited. Even then it would be a gamble..

would love to see orford in a bulls shirt. perusing other boards ratchford may be available from salford. ratchford/orford starting halves with deacon and sykes as backup would be a major improvement for next year. Also brough's played plenty of standoff in his time so orford/brough could be an option and rumours about brough coming keep floating around.

I think Deacon would be an expensive back up! I have heard rumours that he is off next year but with a year left on his deal I would be surprised unless he is part of a player exchange deal. Perhaps Salford would welcome an experienced scrum half to replace Myler!

I must say I was disappointed to see Robbie move to Leigh. I was hopeful he might retire and we would offer him some employment up at Odsal. Probably wouldn't fit in with our cost cutting measures but we can really do with someone like Robbie promoting our club once again.
