After the fans forum I wanted to gage the opinions of folk on here on the big Macca question. IMO the main responsibility of the coach is the first team not juniors so Macca has to be judged on what happens this season (and the last 2 which have been disapppointing).

IMO Macca is a proven high quality number 2 but does not have the x factor to be a succesfful number 1. I was speaking to a Hull fan and he said pretty much the same about the coaches they had since Kear and they are in a similar poor state as us right now

It is pretty obvious what my choice would be, but apparently it would be knee-jerkery of the highest order.

After almost 4 years at the club and with the first team going backwards at an alarming rate, as it stands now I will vote fire him.
If we make the playoffs and have a good run, I would be willing to support him for 1 more season, after that, if we still or on the decline as a team, then it will be goodbye forever Steve for me.

Keeping him at number 2 would be a good compomise and will maintain some stability? He could still pursue his fantastic efforts in youth development and future building then.

I wouldnt be adverse to him retaining title of coach but with an experienced director of rugby appointed above him to take some of the load. Plus really think we need to improve the assistant coaches, as paul medley apart, cant see senior players having much respect for the current incumbents.

I havent voted as you cant choose two. I dont think he would want to be number 2 to anyone here, and if he goes his coaches should too. I would keep him as an assistant, but to a head coach, not a director of rugby.

There needs to be a shake up done in the coaching dept.

I think McNamara's lack experience means he's not able to change his tactics on the fly, so a Director of Rugby coming in, if just for a year or 2, just to steady him and give him a bit more knowledge would improve matters.

There's also the matter of defensive coaching. Both in terms of the defensive line and tackling styles/techniques. This is something that needs to be sorted if we're to be any sort of force again
