there's a few big names left out. I must admit i've not seen loads of super league this year so far but the likes of o'loughlin, morley and fa'asavalu getting in seems strange.

I think O'Loughlin has been playing well this year. Also this only a training squad it says more names will be added later. It isn't the squad to play France.

Lynch should be in, and morley and faasavalu shouldn't in my opinion. Thing is though that 17 man squad is gonna be extended to between 25 and 30 as the season goes on so there's a chance yet.

I'm very glad LMS and Shenton got in, bith deserved it.

When it gets extended I reckon Worrlord will be there. If not there'll be hell to pay

TBF with the erratic form we've shown, it's a fair call, and if the team manages to stay at the current level then Lynch should come into the frame, but I reckon Burgess himself only got in in his capacity as the country's star prodigy who simply has to be picked, even he has had a quiet start to the season till very recently.

The Aussies and Kiwis will laugh at us. Even when we have chosen the 25/30 training squad (I can't remember how many it is exactly) our backs will be laughed at by the Aussies and Kiwis.

i would agree with that. Fox has been scoring tries and scored tries when called up against france. deserves another call up.

Its a strange idea this early squad - I fail to see the point really except to provide the list of players who need to report their location for an hour each day to meet WADA rules (I suspect thats the only actual benefit of this announcement - a political one.)

Its not the team to play France, and it will be added to over time. Maybe that explains why he's picked a player whos injured till August, T Briscoe, no full back at all - why no other Briscoe?, and elected to ignore the best stand off we have, Pryce and the best form winger we have, Fox. I'll await further white smoke from above Red Hall before I think about it further.
