Depends on the movement that caused the dislocation. It's often the up and back motion.
If so, you can take plety of hammer straight on without moving the arm up at all (as with holding a tackle shield).

Perhaps the club should convince him that the ball is a pie. Then he would keep hold of it at all times.

Quite possibly, and the chances of him passing it would be seriously diminished.

But if he did eat it he would pass it after 2 or 3 days..... its just a delayed pass.
