Obviously, a lot will resign, and also some I wouldn't be sad to see leave. But the amount that are only contracted till 2009 is worrying.

Isn't McNamara also out of contract at the end of the season?



Lynch, maybe Cook and Halley are the only ones that Bradford need to hang on to. Unfortunately the rest will probably be too old or perhaps not up to it (pending appropriate replacements being found).

Not good enough (?): Jeffries, ?Solomona, ?James - how long has he been on the edge of the first team?

What's most worrying is that Deacon is not on that list.

Agreed. Regardless of age, he still puts more effort in that any other player and is always one of the best 3 players on the field for us. I don't care if he's 75, if he plays like that.

Ben Jeffries If we'd managed to get Bird, would probably have been relegated to back-up and maybe unlikely to sign a new deal.
Terry Newton Maybe injured this season. Could still do a job but could do without the pies
Andy Lynch The rock our pack is built on. Losing him would be a serious blow
Morrison (Retire) He doesn't quite seem the player he was last year, possibly sick of having to carry some of team's dead weight
Menzies(Retire) Yet to sparkle on the field. Perhaps a role on the coaching staff
Matt Cook seems to have matured over the last season or so. More willing to put in the graft and fight for his spot
Dave Halley his face doesn't seem to fit under mcnamara, unless he gets more game time he's likely to walk
Matt James Alot depends on his performances at fax. Would expect perhaps a year extention

There's a lot of contracts up so could be a lot of upheaval if many are alloweed to leave. On the bright side it means that most should be trying hard to justify a SL contract whether with us or elsewhere.

I too would keep Morrison if he was still producing the goods, age is just a number.

So when is this likely to happen then??

Sounds like rebuilding is going to be the excuse for longer than I imagined.

When you get a decent coach, with some of those players....not a bad problem. There are some better out there, probably for cheaper, so it would open up some space on your salary cap.

Hopefully we'll start to see some promotion from the junior ranks, instead of "buying in" replacements for them all.

The likes of the Tate's, Burgess's etc will hopefully come through so we don't have to sign a whole new team. That's the idea of junior development anyway. We need to be bringing through two per season.

Wouldn't say Newton was too old, but definitely needs to improve.

Tadulala & Solomona are both 31 so I wouldn't say that's too old considering Menzies and Morrison are two of our best players so far this season.

Menzies will retire, Solomona can go for mine, the others need to convince me they deserve another deal at the moment. Another good opportunity to recruit in the areas needed.

I'd probably add Newton in there, but yeah, it would need proving. I'd love Menzies to have another season with us but he's already said this is his last one.

For me Morrison would be up there with Lynch. He's been our best player so far and he's the only real leader on the pitch.

Morrison is very important to us I agree, and has done great, on current form like I said I would resign him tomorrow. But as good as he is, we could get many many more years out of Lynch who could easily be a regular contenter for the MOS steel award IMO season aftre season.

Its easy, just resign both.

I geniunely thought that, when we first signed him, Langley would be contending for MoS in a few years. If he had lived up to his potential we could have all 3 MoS's at Bradford.

Am I the only one thinking that these players if re-signing should have allready done so by now. Leaving it till the contracts are up means they can leave for free to go to other clubs, dangerous for the Bulls.

Whilst that may have been a threat in the past, I don't see many clubs coming forward right now

anti tampering deadline isnt until july. Its pretty normal for re-signing not to occur till may/june ish when club sees how the players are performing plus announcements can be a boost before big games.

I wouldn't resign Newton if he agreed to play for free.

And who are we going to sign that's better. If he could be d he would be up there with the top in SL.
