[size=200BRING THE TWO REF SYSTEM INTO SUPER LEAGUE[/size
In this mornings game, a Manly player took out a Bulldogs player (Brett Kimmorley), referee Brett Suttor who was the back play official saw this and told Ben Cummins who was the control official via the mic that it was a penalty to Canterbury.
The penalty was given inside three seconds, and the tap was taken after six seconds.
The two referee system has speeded up the game ten fold from the two games that I have seen this weekend.
In the past under the old system of one referee Ben Cummins would have asked the video referee who was Steve Clark today, to look to see if there was a late hit on Brett Kimmorley and should there be a penalty to Canterbury.
Which in return would of held up play for a minute or two while they would anaylise the footage.
The fans want action, action, action and the two ref system gives the fans what they want.
It would also cost around double the wages now. Also referees would have to be promoted from the lower divisions and then more new refs recruited etc. Cummings just can't be d, too much trouble and too much budget.
The fact we can't afford to have video referees at every game, whereas the NRL have been doing it ages, shows our RFL don't have the cash to spend on the amount of referees it would need.
Wouldn't expect to see it coming in over here any time soon.
