| Just a quick one i notice that for the past 2 seasons Platt has been made the scapegoat for losses etc.
As the saying goes 1 player doesnt make a team whether its making the team better or worse.
When i have seen platt play he seems quick strong and dangerous, i know he has mad brain explosions but many players do.
The point is that your team are struggling as a whole and not just one player, your half backs are the weakest i have seen in years for the bulls your hooker is too slow and has worse brain explosions than platt in my opinion.
You just havent signed any good players in the off season.

| He's probably not THAT bad but he's certainly failed to live up to his early form at Bradford when he was breaking the line with ease and scoring tries for fun. Without these antics his defensive blunders are less, erm, defensible
I'm sure many on here will dispute whether the players signed are good or not, Menzies and Scruton certainly aren't bad.

There's plenty of other topics on this board covering all your above points, do we really need another one ?

| i know menzies is good but is it worth all that money for a one season wonder when you could of got another top player younger on a contract for 3-4 years for the same amount as your probably paying him for 1

Whilst I agree we should have strenghtened others areas of the team, preferably with young talented players, fact is the right players were not available for the right price at the right time. But you cant make the sweeping statement that we signed no good players when we aquired two grand final winners in Scruton and Menzies and filled in some other spots with players who have the potentail to improve whilst already being SL standard in Sheriffe and Worrency.
But as to one of your original points, no I dont believe Platt is as bad as some make out, but he has not pushed on like I would have hoped as yet.

Who?
Steve Snitch? Rob Parker?
I'll stick with Menzies I think.

| Alot of people miss the point with Menzies.
He was not just brought here to play. It was also to pass on his vast knowledge of the game and try and improve the younger players in the first team & coming through the ranks.
I also do not believe that it was said what he was earning either. People again assume he is on a fortune.
Having watched him in the 2 games so far I would give him another years contract right now.
As for Platt. He is sometimes the scapegoat but he is not helping him self.
He seem to have lost all confidence now. He seems nervous of catching the ball, prefers to offload to the wingers rather than than be brave and take it back himself and has lost the ability to tackle.

| We've apparently got a great crop of backrowers coming through in the academy like Whitehead, Olbison, Tate and Donaldson. We'll hopefully see some of these come through in the next couple of seasons. Menzies can pass on his knowledge and good habits to them so we don't need to bring anymore in for that area.

Care to share the details of Beaver's contract with us? And the details of those of other "top" players?
Its always a bit of a misconception though, because its the good British players who've tended to cost more, for equivalent ability, because of their relative scarcity as well as for tax and other reasons.

His confidence wont be helped by significant sections of his own supporters "cheering" when he catches the ball. We're all waiting for the next mistake, and he knows we're all waiting for the next mistake and for the jeers to rain down off the terrace, and that cant be easy. But he needs to ignore that as a professional, and focus on playing error free for as long as possible to take the attention away. On the plus side he has tried to support the ball carrier by running through the lines plenty of times in the first two games but the ball was never released for various reasons.

Hardly surprising you get a self-fulfilling prophecy, given the torrent of abuse directed at him by parts of the home "support", and orchestrated by one or two with their own agendas?

Couldn't agree more. TBH it's pathetic. At the two home games so far you could hear a sort collective intake of breath when the ball gets kicked over and shouts like "go on platt drop it" when he hasn't (except for probably going into touch in the first match) put a foot wrong really.
Going to watch a Rugby match should be a laugh and something you look forward to after the rigours of the working week but I think some people have startted to take it way too seriously both at the game and on here but I guess that's for another thread.

Spot on - it annoyed me at both games. I'd like to make a prediction that it wont happen as much (at all?) away at Wigan on Sat. This seems to be far more prevailent with the home support for some reason.

| I really think Platt will come on for you lot, i think the fact is that he isnt or may never be as highly rated as your previous full backs but they were already highly experienced, i mean stuart spruce and withers they were great probably the best full backs of their time.
Platt is still only young and as you seen when he first come to you his potential was massive his confidence was running high but as taken a few knocks with his confidence not just on the pitch but off it as well with his driving ban and 2 court apperances for assault and criminal damages hopefully he will put his life back on track and get sorted to become a bulls legend

With spelling all that lot out, when there was no need for it, you'll have trouble convincing people you are not just making mischief.
