| In the Guardian this morning it says that:
"Tame Tupou....has almost certainly played his last game for the club. Tupou is still suffering from a knee injury that restricted him to three appearances last season and talks are understood to be underway for him to be released."
Interestingly, the online version of the same article (about McCormack getting sacked) has no mention.
Any thoughts?

| It's a bit like Feather, loads of potential but never met due to injury. Just can't believe how his confidence fell away after the start he made. If it's true it makes sense, it would be good if we had someone lined up to take his place, preferably someone who can play centre or wing.

| That's the thing isn't it? We are quite short of quality in the backs as it is. Im not sure we can afford to lose Tupou without replacing him.

| If he can't play we can afford to lose him, might give a chance for a young lad if we can't sign someone else

Funny they are saying he is not fit. Tupou has been touted around SL clubs as a potential'back rower'. The clear suggestion was that this was necessary to fit Bird under the salary cap. However paying him off does not release so much money cap wise.

I'm not sure that's a "clear suggestion" at all.

| I am led to believe that the bulls are able to invoke a condition in his contract regarding minimum fitness availability over any 6 month playing period.

| would certainly make a lot of sense if we released tupou. We've got halley as cover and it says a lot about the clubs opinion of tupou that they list him as a utility back rather than a winger on the website. Whilst any payout would count on the cap, if he's released through injury which is preventing him playing, then the payout would be less than his full wage for the season which, together with money were saving not paying bird till may/june would give us enough cap space for another player. Reading between lines looks like we may have identified a possible target and are clearing the decks so to speak.
