I reckon Morrison is one of our really top players, but can we risk having to pay his wage if he's going to be injured half the year? Also taking up the salary cap of someone else who might not be injured as much?

Well, it's difficult to answer. On the one hand, lengthy though his injury absences have been, there's a case for saying that he has just had appalling luck with a couple of serious injuries, and that they are not "wear and tear" or "veteran" or "injury pronenes" injuries.

I say "a case" because it seems to work out that if a player becomes injury prone, then however illogical it may be, they tend to stay injury prone. But due to the type of injuries I for the moment still don't have Morro down as an "injury prone" player in that sense.

But there is a considerable risk, as he might turn out to be just that.

On balance, as there is insufficient evidence, then i'd certainly vote to keep him, because what he can offer us IF on the pitch is immense, and especially because we don't at the moment exactly have a shedload of players as aggressive, motivational and exemplary as Morro, so the risk I think is worth taking. But it is definitely a risk.

agree with all that but with hall,l'estrange and nero under contract and menzies rumoured to be staying on then if want to bring in a half from NRL we'll need morro's quota spot. If we end up with a half from another SL team and dont need the quota spot then I'd have no problem giving morro a 1 year extension and taking chance he wont get injured.

We should do everything we can to get Morrison on the coaching staff.

Can you have a coach who's eligible to play? That way he would be able to play if fit, but if not still be a good part of our setup.

he's been doing that on an unofficial basis this year anyway. His visa doesnt cover him to do it on a more formal basis.

Sadly, very very bad move - in salary cap and quota terms. All his package would rank for salary cap, and he'd take a quota spot. Not a good idea for what would be a part-time player.

I don't know if this has already been said as i couldn't be bothered reading 8 pages, but its more than likely he wants a longer deal than the one we want to offer, ie he wants 2 and we want 1 year

Why would you want them? Two expensive quota players who will be almost certainly injured for at least a proportion of it.

In fact, that Morrison is a waste of space, make sure you pass that on to the board...

It's like a complete reversal. Just a year to two years ago we were getting their players - now they're getting ours!

They're welcome to Solo and Newton. I'd only be ok about Morrison leaving if his quota spot was needed to strengthen us at halfback or in the threequarters. Still feel he can do a job for us and is worth a punt on a 12 month deal.

If Morro's quota spot is the real problem.. ie we were going to sign another top class antipodean then yes... release him
If we think that we can run next season with one or two of of our crop of juniors that could adequately replace him... release him
If we think that he is injury prone... release him.

If none of the above apply and he gets back this season then we just might see what the team have ben missing in his absence.
Just maybe, and then a final year for him in transition to bring on the juniors

It doesnt matter what the injury is, wether it's major or minor, reccuring or not, if he picks up injuries regularly that cause him to miss lots of games then he's injury prone, Knee(Catalans), Quad/knee(Leeds), Wrist(Cas), Ribs(Saints), so that's four injuries that's caused him to miss a hell of a lot of games for us in the past 2 seasons. He's become injury prone and it's not worth the risk.
