The cynic in me feels like the rug will get pulled from under our feet again soon though so refusing to indulge myself in optimism at this stage especially after last year's debacle.

Seems like he's doing it from his mobile, the 'spellchecker' on mine comes up with stuff like that - but only changes stuff after you've moved to the next space so you miss what it's done.....

Spellchecker wouldn't even be needed if the person writing the article had some grasp of the English language.

As far as Milton goes, hard to say if it's a good signing or not until we've seen him play so will reserve judgement until I have. Really hoping the next couple of signings are a bit older though, the squad is looking very young again. Great for long term, but not necessarily the short term.

Sort of agree about the checker. I'd assumed it was there to keep us on our toes, you know, so we HAD to go over it all again to check what typos it had added to our text. To be honest I can manage enough those to keep myself more than satiated - if only I could go through the book which came with the phone (there wasn't one - info is in all the files.....somewhere..) and learn how to turn it off, but I really just can't be bothered.

As for George, he sounds the part and, as in all things, time will tell. Like you, I'm still looking forward to the grizzled half man half bear sort of prop(s) we could do with. I can't imagine that the experienced guys at the club don't realise that though.

He looks a decent player especially at the level he will be playing thought he might have gotten a bit more playing time with us but we brought in more forwards so he went out on loan

Yeah, it's not a spelling issue, it's basic English. To speak about 'ounces' of experience is to suggest he has almost no experience at all, which - one assumes - is the exact opposite of what was intended.

Surely 'bags of experience' or even 'lots of experience' was what he was going for?

The 'lose forward' phrase is symptomatic of what one often sees on social media, where people simply can't distinguish between 'lose' and 'loose', or 'have' and 'of', or 'their' and 'there'.

True enough, though unable to use the usual idioms seems to be a step beyond simple literacy. In fact, this inability with the stock phrases which pepper our daily communications suggest that, maybe, English isn't his first language.

A few years back when I was doing a French course, a guy I worked with was learning Spanish, on the internet, using a sort of reciprocal learning system whereby he would pair up with someone in Spain who was trying to learn English and they would 'correct' each others' work. This sounds excellent except that my workmate's English was at the kind of level we see all too often in places like Facebook and Twitter. I do wonder if the Bulls' internet guy learned his English the same way...

Clearly not many people know much about him as this thread ended up discussing the spelling issues rather than the player.

apologies Woollybully for overstating your case. But it was a moment worth waiting for.

I think that's been confessed by most. On the plus side, it's nice to see people not slating the signing just because we don't know much about him. I think in the last few years, people have learned that with players you know little about, wait and see how they play for us before you judge them.

Think Milton looks ok at U19 level judging by his video on you tube. He's a short stocky kid with a decent offload.

As Bullseye said, by all accounts he's not the biggest, but has a very good offload game.

We’ve got history of signing relatively unknown players (Paul brothers, big les, hape) so give Milton abit of leeway. Big lad with plenty of potential and YOUNG

I agree about giving Milton a chance though.

As a Doncaster fan George was always solid and hard working. He could easily be playing in the championship regularly

I do like the way we are signing players who are just at that age where they are still young enough to learn and build but have a few years experience - early twenties. We are putting a squad together that we can build rather than buying older ones looking for a final few years. We do need a handful of grizzly experienced lads though.
Hope Toovey brings back the next penguin and a couple of unknowns as good as Sironnen. That would help finish the squad off for me.

Yeah, agree Woolley. Many of our problems last season were caused by having too many kids in the team. The kids will be kicked around again if we don't have some blokes on the field who will prevent it. I'm not talking referees, by the way....
