| Diskin was my guess at that, and heard same from a leeds boy at work yesterday. Can't imagine leeds wanting anyone else from our side to be honest, other than perhaps Donaldson. Bit left field but if it is true id imagine Diskin is on a fair whack and would certainly free up some money, a return for scruton maybe?

| My initial thought was Diskin as a hooker replacement for Burrow/Aiton, but then thought it more likely to be a HB or FB to allow Sinfield to move to 9, with Hardaker going to 6 if it is a FB.

| Thought Leeds had loads of kids, all just waiting to get a chance......and obviously better than anything we've got here.
Anyway I think I've sussed McDermott out - sends three to London for the season and lends us one but takes him back pdq. I know he probably still has a bit of feeling for London with having coached there but.....

Surely in that situation Ben jones bishop would come in at fullback ( and that's assuming they don't just slot sutcliffe in at hb rather than hardaker). Be a strange decision by us to let someone leave mid season on a permanent deal when were under strength already. Plus not even a hint on Leeds board that they think there signing someone.

| Kearney will be our highest earner. Contract runs out this year. Is on quota so needs his future sorted asap. We do have cover at FB. There have been the odd rumours re leeds interest over the past 2-3years. Just not recently.

Could have seen that as a likely move before Leeds signed up hardaker on a long deal. They've got their long term fullback signed so why would they bring in a high earner to allow them to shuffle their team round to cover a relatively short injury situation. Could maybe see us loaning them kear if they need a FB or Addy to backup Sinfield at hooker. Talk on their board is that Stevie ward will be backup hooker and sutcliffe into the halves.

| I would suggest that we are not really in a position to be loaning anyone to anyone! Unless it's one of these "season long" loans that have been so useful to allow us to build a stable team.

I was told a few weeks back that Watkins is off to yawnion for megabucks, which was rubbished on Substandard. That would mean Hardaker to centre, where I think he is better suited. Which is why BJB didn't sod off pre-season. I can't see Sutcliffe being in the halves long-term.

| John Kear said on bootsNall that the championship are only allowed one quota player. If that stays the same it will hit the two clubs going down and any who want to challenge the SL clubs next year to go back up. It should be the same for both leagues but if it is only one or two next season, who would we keep?

Can't see tier 2 quota staying at 1 player when tier 1 are allowed 7. Too big a disparity. Tier two should increase to 3 at least. That said kearney and purtell are out of contract next year anyway and isnt henry only on a one year deal?.
We're going to have a problem next year anyway with our squad as we have quite a few out of contract and we are only going to be able to offer them extensions on basis that we stay in SL. Wouldn't blame any of players who turned down our offer to take up one from a club guaranteed SL next year rather than take risk their contract could be voided if we go down, and their left scrabbling for a deal in Sept when most clubs will have finalised their recruitment.

| So we struggle for props the whole season, and within one week of needing a replacement Castleford go and snap up a SL standard prop in Lee Jewitt.
Sort of makes our club look like a bunch of idiots really.

The initial contract is only for the 2014 season though, so there's no reason he couldn't have agreed a similar deal with us.

The thing is, I don't get why Jewitt hasn't been taken on by an SL after his Salford deal ended. I mean, he's definitely got the ability to play at this level, so why hasn't he been snapped up before? I mean, I can understand him having reluctance to sign on with us, assuming we made an approach, given our shaky SL status, but still.
I have to conclude that he or his agent are vastly over charging for his services. An over charge Bradford aren't willing to pay but Cas are.

| I have to admit that I also am struggling to remember much about him.
Is there a danger that in our position whoever comes available seems to get built up a little into better players than they possibly are. We only have half a season left and it is vital that the next couple of signings are right for us and not knee-jerk signings. Yesterday Franny said they are waiting for clearance to sign overseas players. I hope we hear soon that we have signed two rough barnstorming forwards who are keeping benches warm in the NRL and fancy the summer in the UK.

| Locke is a quality full back, and will be pushing to be the best FB in the competition next year.
Surprised there wasn't a queue of clubs in the NRL wanting to sign him up, but after watching a few NRL games each season, the FB position is pretty much hard to break into, with each club having a 'superstar' in that position.
Great signing for Salford, this kid will be commanding a NRL size salary. I wonder if Mr K has accidentally left his wallet at Lockes house, when finalising the deal.

| It depends who they let go at the end of this season. The players off contract at the end of the 2014 season include: Mat Ashurst, Jordan Davies, Jacob Emmitt, Ben Gledhill, Darrell Griffin, Stuart Howarth, Greg Johnson, Tommy Lee, Francis Meli, Adrian Morley, Jake Mullaney, Gareth Owen, Tim Smith, Adam Walne, Jordan Walne, Jason Walton, Paul Walton, Danny Williams
Some big earners in there.

| If you want barn-storming forwards I don' think the Waltons are up to it. They're far too passive.
