Leigh were dealing with all of this internally from Monday up to Thursday night until somebody (presumably RB or his agent) went to the press about it and it got announced live on Sky Sports. At which point all hell broke loose between the Leigh fans and an announcement had to be made by the club in response.

Whoever you believe the constant to and fro in the public eye doesn't reflect well on either side. There are ways of dealing with issues like this and giving a running commentary in the media isn't it.

it's never appropriate to discuss details of individual disputes in public. It doesn't happen in the "normal" workplace and shouldn't happen in RL either.

The latest comment by Jukes where he went on about Jeremy Kyle and the lie detector was ridiculous.

How do you know it's wasn't Derek who leaked the news to Sky, anything is possible with him. He could be trying to make Brierley out to be the bad guy

No direct quotes, but Ross has clearly spoken to someone from the Bulls side and possibly the rfl. As has been said, the Bulls need to do everything above board if we are interested. And as one of the best halfs in the league might be available on 1st April, we should be interested.

Problem is now, whichever club signs him in April (and someone will - hes too good to sit out the season waiting for his Leeds 2017 contract to start), for however long a contract, DB and everyone at Leigh will cry foul against that club - especially if its Bradford, even if we've genuinely had nothing to do with the situation up to now. I'd almost recommend whichever club tries to sign him gets the RFL to confirm his availability first.

Because they are the only people that knew about it other than the club. The club had nothing to gain from making it public. Quite the opposite. Have you seen the state of things surrounding Leigh since this came out? It has been a nightmare. Never has a so called 'banter page' been so inappropriately named! No advantage to Leigh at all in going to the press with this and disrupting the club and the team who are having enough problems as it is.

Brierley gets to put himself in the shop window by going public with the fact that he is 'up for grabs' in 4 weeks time. There is also a LOT of previous for info about Brierley being leaked to the press. His 'Rowley clause' that was made public within an hour of Rowley leaving the club as just one example.

Only one party had anything to gain by leaking this to the press and it wouldn't be the first time it had happened.

At least all this is deflecting away from the reason why Chase isn't playing.

Quite. It is absolutely not in the best interests of the club, either short or long term.

Might be in the best short term interests of whoever drove a coach with Leigh running through his veins, a senior member of the board and the club's top try scorer over the last two years out though. Particularly if that person spent the whole off season telling everyone else how in his opinion the rest of the world trails in his wake. Such a person might represent the club without being the club.

Well Brierley has been on gmr this afternoon and said he's never given a 4 week notice,come on ryan read your statement where you had given 4 weeks notice and you could be out of work on 1 April also hull and Huddersfield was named as clubs by Brierley that wanted him,his story changes every day so you wonder why we don't believe him

BRADFORD Bulls would like to clarify comments, which were made in the media regarding Ryan Brierley’s agent, Craig Harrison.

Steve Ferres, Bradford Bulls Managing Director, can confirm he spoke with Harrison. However, his comments published in the media regarding the position of his client have been misinterpreted.

Ferres is in contact with Harrison, who has several clients who play for the Bulls and has always acted in a professional manner when dealing with the club.

"When I spoke with Craig it was public knowledge Ryan wanted to leave Leigh Centurions, subject to a clause in his contract – Craig did not inform me of this," said Ferres.

"I simply asked him to inform me if Ryan became available."

I don't think anyone at leigh believes Bradford did make an offer to ryan, but it doesn't mean he didn't say it.

No the media don't do that according to fans that believe everything that been written about Derek Beaumont

That is the conclusion I am coming to also. He knew the club were in a bad position and that he was our only available half back and tried to take advantage of the situation to get himself some more cash. Using Bradford as the allegedly interested party hoping Beaumont would rather pay the cash than let Bradford 'get one over on him' by taking our poster boy.

Would explain his changing story, his contrasting statements and then him panicking and deleting his twitter account. The sooner the whole thing is sorted the better. Take what we can get for him, if anything, and then move on with players that want to be at the club.

Think the situation stinks whichever way you look at it.

Neither Brierley or Leigh are coming out of this well at all. I think there is probably some truth in both sides of the story. Whilst Derek Baffoon has never been my cup of tea, I do think one of his players has tried to make the most out of the recent happenings over there.

That said, I think the way said Baffoon has gone about his business recently (bringing in known trouble makers, Rowley departure etc etc) has unsettled the player and probably made him wonder if he'll ever get to SL.

I've posted on here before that I think a Gaskell/Brierley half back combination would be one of the strongest in british rugby but with everything going on round this, I would hope the club stay well clear as this could end up blowing up in our faces.

I'm not sure what's more childlike. The way Brierley/Jukes/Beaumont etc are handling this, or the "insults" being thrown around on this thread.

With regards to who's telling the truth, I'm often bewildered how some people make their minds up. Unless I know one of the people involved personally, or at least know someone who knows them, I wouldn't trust any of them. As far as I can see, any of them could be lying and I'm in no place to say which ones. The idea of believing one side based on which club you have feelings for (positive or negative) is ludicrous to me.

I believe they did. We will never know exactly the content of the discussion but my belief is that the agent touted Brierley, a contracted player, to Ferres with an indication of cost and Ferres showed interest in taking him. He probably told Ferres he had an exit clause that was enforceable and/or he was working his notice, this had not happened at the time. I also believe agents are currently over every club like a rash talking about players that can be approached in May indicating expectations and then using it as negotiating tools to secure the best commissions. The bottom line is that unless the conversation was taped we will never know.
I would also like to add that PR is not holier than thou, as one of our ex employees at your place would testify to, he was exceptionally well looked after by first Arthur Thomas then Derek, and if he had walked as we signed Rangi I would applaud the mans morals if he felt that strongly. The timing imo was designed to have as much negative impact as possible on the start to the season, not someone who deeply loves the club as that person would simply walk away without leaving grenades in the media.
