| Quote ="Bullseye"I think if that’s the reason FA they’re disregarding the risk posed by existing traffic which I think is potentially unsafe. Cars can go very quick up and down that road and post-match there is a significant number of people crossing the road whether the Richard Dunn car park is open or not. There was on Sunday and I had to be pretty quick on my feet. Athletic types like us may be ok but the slower could end up as roadkill.
IMO the risk of an accident is increased without a temporary road closure.
If someone gets knocked down there will be some explaining to do by the fuzz.'"
Meh. The slackers should use the subways provided if they can't stand the pace

| Anyone going down in the direction of Staygate can just use the zebra crossing. That's what we do on the way to the ground, so it's no hardship to do the same on the way back.

It isn't particularly obvious but they've reduced the speed limit to 30 mph now so it should be a bit safer on matchday. I'd agree though that reducing the limit probably isn't enough on its own and worse is a pain when it's NOT matchday.
Still it's par for the course - anyone want to start a sweep on when we'll be back to having someone with a red flag in front of all motor vehicles!

| After watching the TV recording, it was a typical low key Bulls start to the season some good play interspersed with some awful tackling and even worse when being tackled. I noticed Cameo(aka Luaki) live up to his name with the usual brief appearance.
Fev were enthusiastic but didn't pose too many problems in front of goal.
Won't get any easier next Sunday though unless they start improving on the basics!

| There was the odd poor attempt at tackles but I suppose you're going to get a bit of that over 80 minutes, the biggest bugbear, imo, was the fact we were constantly losing ground in the collision, both with and without the ball.
I think it's improbable that Jimmy didn't notice so I'd expect an improvement sharpish!

It is only round 1, so I'd expect a build toward the end of the season
And we still won!

Oh aye, I know - 'course it was only the first match for Fev as well, though they lost, so haven't been on here telling us about it!
I'm sure it will get better, or we're in for a long hard season. For one thing, I don't think the players will be too pleased, never mind the coach. We definitely can't afford to be soft up at Whitehaven on Saturday though, they got a tubbing at Fax last Sunday so will have a point to prove...though, I guess so have our pack.

To be fair to our pack we were a prop down most of match and 2 down in 2nd half. Thought we coped with that remarkably well. It probably contributed a bit to us losing collision so much as well. Looks like lauaki's short stint was due to injury rather than fitness, which ties in with him doing 40 mins week before. So maybe we're being a bit harsh on him.
One thing I noticed in first half was we were losing ball in tackle a lot. At first I thought it was poor ball retention on our part, then I noticed fevs number 6 ( Briggs?) was coming into tackles as third man and attempting to punch the ball out rather than tackling. Think our coaches noticed it as well and said something in dressing room at ht as he didn't have as much success with tactic in 2nd half.

Aye you are spot on there. He ended up punching Addy instead, then it all kicked off
