| Is next Sundays game on TV?
Think Reardon might play FB next week if he's fit and BK isn't.

He just didn't look well, but somebody said he got a kick in the face early on. I know he's not the fittest player in the squad and he hasn't hit his straps yet but he was gasping for air after about 10 mins and seemed anoyed with himself. If Orford pulled out because he was sick, maybe Hall had the same problem?

| Hall didnt get back on side following the kick by giants from the first set of 6 in the game until after the 2nd tackle, he then dropped the ball on our first foray into their half with the ball and went down on one knee, gave away the first penalty and then was gasping for air and then went off. I hope he was sick or we are in a lot of trouble!!

He did - and thereafter he seemed to be having problems with his vision. That is why he went off - not a fitness issue.

| So then, according to some (one) the effort WAS there today. In that case the team are clearly crap then because if they are putting in the effort and getting completely mullered at home by Huddersfield then it is a persona problem (as it is clearly not the coach to blame.)
4 years of utter e - only 11 more (league) games to go before we finally get rid of the clueless idiot that had made us a laughing stock.
It is not that long ago that Huddersfield brought out a T-Shirt in order to celebrate beating us after years of trying, this is where we are now. As much as the PT will wish to slate me, this is indeed the sorry state that we are in at the moment.
52 points against Huddersfield FFS. Totally unacceptable, players out or not. Yet we still read some on here saying, "ah well, there is always next week". Some people are content with minimal and it is puzzling to say the least.

So who are you hoping gets the coaching gig? And will they are also need to meet your unrealistic targets, totally ignoring the lack of resources available at the Bulls nowadays?
Whoever we bring in is going to have to be some coach to get a club who clearly do not have a 'top 4' budget performing to top 4 standards. If anything they may well have even less funds available next year if the support continues to dwindle.

| Not good. Poor body language coming onto the pitch. Some of those players had already lost that game before a ball was even kicked.
Can't blame Childs - generally the dominant team gets the majority of the calls - Hudds forwards were dominant. That was nothing to do with the ref.
We went for a thin squad this year (insert Solomona jokes here) and that means we are less able to cover for several injuries at a time. It was a gamble taken at the end of last season which I agreed with then and as we cannot do anything about now we just have to get on with it.
If you are playing behind a beaten pack then your half backs need to be really good to stand a chance - our main chance was Orford and he wasn't fit.
It is a bit of a vicious cycle at the moment - some players are carrying knocks that need a game off to recover but are having to play as there is not a lot of scope for rotation without taking a huge gamble by playing a lot of kids. Unfortunately starting a game with a knock is more likely to exacerbate the problem and lead to another injury. I hope Hall is fit for next week as we basically only had 3 fit subs today.

Can't argue with any of that. I think the quality of quantity decision was probably the right way to go. The next bit of recruitment will be tough for the incoming coach. They're going to have to scour SL to strengthen our squad and there aren't that many quality non-quota outside backs in SL.

No of course not. I just get the sense from some of your postings that you don't feel we should be losing to teams like Huddersfield, Hull KR etc. You don't seem to ever acknowledge that things have changed up at Odsal and it isn't all down to the coach.
So who do YOU want to see as the new Coach? And where do you feel this team should be if they didn't have a 'clueless idiot coaching'?

| I'll take macnamara's word for it that Southernwood etc aren't quite ready for 1st team football but if they were it would make life a lot easier.
I can't see the benefit from moving players around to accomodate and injury.
!. Kearney is out so straight swap with Reardon don't mess the 1st choice three quarter line up then we might see them linking with each other if they actually played with each other for longer than one match in every 5.
7. Orford is out straight swap with Southernwood (if he were ready to play SL level although he maybe needs to add a few pounds first all he could end up seriously injured) then you aren't dragging in a full back (changing the back line round) or a hooker (leaving us short up front).
Prop. Sculthorpe not ready to make debut Crossley, Burgesses etc. etc.
13. Langley is so swap him with Addy.Whitehead is now a first team player and Menzies has done everything so it should help him out.
It would make a real difference if we could just bring them straight in but that's a luxury that the next coach will enjoy.
Either way the performance this afternoon was embarassing and unacceptable and nothing can explain the way they let their heads drop in the first half. The second half performance was an improvement but way off what we should have expected with the players we had out on the field. Players that have been around long enough to know how to tackle, run onto the ball, take the ball securely into contact, to not let the ball bounce, to chase kicks and last (and what I found most annoying today) to run to form a scrum when you are behind on the scoreboard. Once the ref has called time off you can then worry about who stands where but when the players are walking up to form the scrum it makes you wonder if they are bothered at all. It also sends a message to the other team.

| As many suggested we were always going to struggle in this game after the last two, both mentally and physically. Unfortunately, just as you get games when you are 'all over' the opposition, the inevitable other side of that was what we got yesterday. I expect anyone who has played sport, at any level, can empathise with that, disappointing as it is.
Putting that aside though, we need some more of our money back on the paddock and not sitting in the stand. The squad was thin to start with and it's pretty impossible to cope with so many injuries, to key players, at the same time.

"Clueless idiot = England Coach elect" - That's what has got up your nose, we all know! You can't accept having been so utterly wrong about McNamara's capabilities. You used to have it in your sig when I said I predicted a bright future for him. You hate having been wrong and the fact I (and many others) was right. And of course in true ME style, you aren't big enough to put your hands up and admit your mistake, nor will you ever be, even if McNamara went on to be Head Coach of the Universe XIII.

Would this be the sorry state where we were a single point ahead of our opponents before the match, and are now just a single point behind? How sorry a state is that? Come on, at least try to stay on the fringes of reality.

Nope. Some people were, realistically, not expecting us to be challenging for the title.

Next year, all our youngsters will be one year older, harder and bigger, though. Including, for example, the Burgii. We may do some shrewd business in the market, but the way our finances are we will need to rely increasingly on producing our own.

That is actually one of the funniest conspiracy theories I have heard from some of the folks sitting nearby at Odsal.
The theory goes that our players are so cunning and clever (and also able to turn their form on the playing field on and off at will) that they deliberately played well early in the season to get Macca the England post so that there was no chance of him staying on next season - and are now deliberately concocting injuries and playing badly so that the board will be encouraged to release him early. I don't know whether to laugh or cry

| I'm not a Bulls fan but I've always liked your club since they led the way in embracing the "summer era", as Eddie would say. Personally, I do think that your team have been moving in the right direction this season but a thumping like this is always going to be hard to take. Still, I would point out that other clubs, like Quins and Hudds themselves have taken similar batterings this season and bounced back. It's how your lads back up from this that really counts. I also think Brown's comments about his players being overlooked by McNamara may actually have fired up some of his players a bit, not to mention the fact that they had been on an awful run but then had a week off to prepare for putting it right against you guys.

| its sad that our ambition is measured by some in comparison with Quins, HUdds etc...
The club needs to act now in terms of starting to give fans what they want. obvioulsy results are out of their control, but the rest of the gameday experience is not.
make the day worth coming to, get some crowds in and therefore some atmosphere, and then watch the team grow.
If it is true that Mcnamara was quoted in the T%A as saying that his absence will have no impact, the let him go now. why are we paying him? if his week off has no impact on us, then the other 51 when he is there makes him surplus to requirements.
