suspect orford is using us to get a better deal from manly. However the story about him has brought the deacon to wigan deal into the open which I suspect is to allow us to bring brough in and alleviate wakeys cash problems.

this would also tie in with us talking to a nz player, and the comment from bulls today about all our new australian signings being available for pre-season. if we've managed to get brough plus a Nz player then I'll be very impressed

Am I the only one thinking very cynically and noticing the coincidence between this rumour/story and the fact that the season ticket reminders have just gone out and the early bird deadline is next week?

If Deacon does go, the only thing I will be sad for is that we won't have had the opportunity to say goodbye to him properly. He deserves a good send off from the fans for what he has done for the Club.

Absolutely, whatever peoples opinion on Deacon's abilities now, it would be wrong to forget the huge contribution he has made to this club both on and off the pitch. As has been mentioned earlier, I too wouldn't be shocked if we actually nabbed Brough. I suppose him and a class wing might bring a better balance to the team. However Orford at 70% of 2008 form would offer more consistent quality than DB IMO. I would be happy with DB but I still have some lingering doubts about his professionalism and discipline. Both would improve the current side though.

my suspicion is that the australian story has broken the the story over here early and it was planned to be released after the early bird deadline. Whilst it would be nice to sell more season tickets now, from a financial point of view its better for the club to announce a marquee signing after the deadline and have a surge in season ticket sales at the non earlybird higher rate.

Completely agree. Regardless of his form last year and what some think of him, he's been a hell of a servant to the club and deserves a proper send off when he leaves. I only hope that if he doesn't get that, he gets a good reaction the first time we play against him.

Completely agree. But I'm certain he'll get a very good reception when he returns if goes.

A lot will now be said about Deac's career with the Bulls but my over-riding memory was the fans confidence we had in his kicking. It surely put the frighteners on opposition and gave great confidence to his team mates.
